...see, the thing about rock is that people don't realise how much music is actually classified as 'rock'. This rock encyclopedia I keep mentioning was rather enlightning at times. I've seen acts I like in there that I didn't really think of as rock...of course some are hybrids....and on with the list

The Smiths (not much of them, but I like Panic..'hang the DJ, Hang the DJ')
James Brown- he was in that good old encyclopedia! Although I realise he's the Godfather of SOUL..
The Kinks. I can't get over how much I like the Kinks. And people who haven't heard of The Kinks. Everyone's heard The Kinks Even if they don't realise it. *natters on about The Kinks*
I dunno if they count, but The Hollies.

I like classic rock, but I don't associate classic rock songs with who sang them simple because I listened to them off the radio and they don't bother listing the artist/song title. I grew up listening to country music, not classic rock, so I had a late start.
