Clash of the Titans- Round Deux [Lockable]

Sat Apr 01, 2006 3:52 pm

"Clash of the Titans" is a new series of polls that pits one titan of today's world (companies, brands, etc.) against another. Because the range of topics for this is huge, when all available options have been used, the winner will be placed into the Hall of Fame.

-----------

Last Week's Winner

Ford overwhelmingly beat GM. The results:

Ford Motor Company: 73%
General Motors: 26%

Total Votes: 26

This week's poll is between Ford and the last of the 'Big 3' automakers, DaimlerChrysler.

-----------

Facts about the Titans

Ford Motor Company
- Founded in 1903
- Produces Ford, Lincoln, Mercury, Mazda, Volvo, Jaguar, Land Rover, and Aston Martin vehicles
- Revenue in 2004 was $178.1 billion USD

DaimlerChrysler
- Founded in 1998 (Before merger with Daimler, Chrysler was founded in 1925)
- Produces Dodge, Chrysler, Jeep, Maybach, Mercedes-Benz, and Smart (Car) vehicles
- Revenue in 2004 was $192.319 billion USD

-----------

Future Competitors
This is just a list of competitors that will show up in future rounds. Because the poll category has to do with automakers, these listed are only automakers. These are no particular order

Toyota
Volkswagen

-----------

Feedback
You can suggest any kind of brand name/company to compete, it doesn't just have to relate to the certain topic (in this week's case, automakers)

Again, Ford for the same reason as last time. Guess I'll have to wait until you allow me to vote for Toyota :(

That will probably be next week. I wanted to get the Big 3 done first because, well, it's the Big 3.

Cool! I'll finally be able to vote for my favorite car company. When is VW going to show up? Just curious.

Although I like the Chrysler Building, I'm gonna have to say Ford. They're just fantastic cars.

Toyota will probably next week, then VW the week after. That will be the end since there aren't any more auto titans (that I know of). (Nissan, Honda, etc. I don't consider to be titans because they only produce one type of car.)

What about other Euro producers besides VW? (I don't know cars too well so I only assume Ford, GM, and VW don't own all of the European manufacturers.)

Well, now that I've looked more into it, I'm including Nissan and Honda. As for European automakers, VW owns about 15% of that market, but I'll be including PSA Peugeot Renault and BMW. I think that will be it though. :P
