That made me cry. I tried not to cos my brother might come into my room and see me, but I couldn't help but have a little cry

Ah yes, this story. A few years ago I found it on some other site, and when I read it I cried. And I re-read it again just now, and I almost cry. It's such a sad story, but it gets the point across quite well.

*teary eyed* Aw, that so sad.

I already made up my mind to get a dog from the shelter when I have my own home, but that just made my mind up definitely.

No way can I read that whole thing without going into a severe depression. I cry every time I even go into the SPCA b/c I can't take them all home.

We get all our pets there.

I must be heartless because I didn't feel so much as twinge.

Omg that story.. I'm actually hysterically crying right now.. because I work at an SPCA. I'm the kennel help, I solely do the dogs every day. There's about 35 of them there and they're all so sweet and in need of love. They're treated well, but it's no comparison to a happy home. And it's true.. the older dogs rarely get adopted. In the past week.. 6 puppies have been adopted, and no older dogs. But I'm considering being a foster parent. Bringing home one of the dogs for a few days at a time, to socialize them, and show them love, and I'm thinking of adopting Annie Oakly, a beautiful hound mix, who's been there forever, and she's 5 years old. Sometimes when I'm cleaning out their kennels I get so sidetracked and I just sit in the cages with them, nuzzling them and hugging them. In reality, their lives aren't that terrible, especially with me being the kennel help. I have a huge soft spot in my heart for dogs, and I won't let a single one of those dogs go without a nice full belly everyday, and a nice thick warm blanket to sleep on. Since I've been working there, no dogs have died, except for Bad Mama, who literally ripped a man's face off, and we had no choice but to put her down.
I know how unfortunate other animals are, which is why I show my dogs all the love they show me. So basically, my babies are spoiled rotten.
*still crying*

Some people just aren't as sensitive. Doesn't mean you're heartless. I didn't start crying until his voice started breaking and THEN I cried. Sad story

... its the sad part that this actually goes on.. I hate people sometimes.

I remember this from the old forums... hadn't heard it in a while. Thanks.

I had to share, if this helps to get even one older dog adopted or changes someones mind about giving their older dog to a shelter than I have done something good.

I feel so bad about the poor dogs!
Yes, I am more emotional than all of my friends. I am glad that I got my cat from the Humane Society and I saw some older dogs get adopted, and a whole litter of cats to a number of people. This is so sad that people do this thing.

You're not the only one. My eyes did go wider at the end, but nowhere close to actual tears.
Was I the only one who could stand the reading? I felt like he just wasn't doing the story justice. It was too rushed and monotonous. I had to stop it halfway through because of that and because he started pausing, and I wanted to keep reading.
