Anything and everything goes in here... within reason.

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20080515/ap_ ... texas_antsI haven't seen any of the Rasberry ants yet (at least, I don't think I have), but it'll only be a matter of time before they show up in my yard. I just don't understand how they're causing electrical damage.

This was perhaps the most disturbing paragraph from the article:
They have ruined pumps at sewage pumping stations, fouled computers and at least one homeowner's gas meter, and caused fire alarms to malfunction. They have been spotted at NASA's Johnson Space Center and close to Hobby Airport, though they haven't caused any major problems there yet.
Houston, we have a problem. The entire navigation system seems to be down... (wait, that sounds like a Neo plot)
My other favorite quotes:
But the ants also like to... eat the hatchlings of a small, endangered type of grouse known as the Attwater prairie chicken.
And when you do kill these ants, the survivors turn it to their advantage: They pile up the dead, sometimes using them as a bridge to cross safely over surfaces treated with pesticide.
This sounds almost as bad as the
snakefish incident in Maryland. Hope they can find a solution before it spreads too much farther...

Ugh, I'm glad I haven't seen any of these! We have fire ants, but we kill their mounds regularly.

No worries, we are
still reeling those things in on the lower Potomac.

So like, I guess I never really thought ants did much more than bite your bare feet and sometimes get at the food in your house. That is INSANE. Dude. Low budget horror movie is right. Next they'll be crawling into people's orifices while they're sleeping and crazy stuff like that.

Having seen the new Indiana Jones movie recently, I find this very disturbing.

This article says they build nests inside electronic equipment, clogging the machinery.

Same... in fact, I just got home from it! That was my first thought. *shudder*
Indeed, very frightening. =/ I hope they can figure out a way to control the problem soon! It's crazy that they'll use dead ants as a bridge. DX

Never heard of Rasberry ants before.
We have fire ants were we live, and then we have the HUGE black ones.
Lulz.
Sadly, I'm strange enough that I'm fascinated by ants. I'd probably just stare at one of their nests and see what they do if they ever came here. XD

fire ants scare me because when they attack they go crazy. I dont mind big black carpenter ants. They dont hurt anything. They're just fun to watch.

I don't think we have any crazy attacker ants here. Only the huge flying ants which come in the summer and annoy the heck out of everyone, but are fun, too.

*Looks at army ants, one of cracks 7 most evil insects*
On the bright side, they only overpower everything in a living tide of insects, rather than berry their young in you.

Yeah I have seen some. They are completely crazy! We have to worry about them because my mom is allergic to fire ants and such and we don't know if she is also allergic to these as well.. :{
