((I didn't think this went in Promos and Plugging, because it's not exactly a site. Please correct me if I'm wrong.))

Felix is a free downloadable kitty that you can watch on your desktop. You can also download toys, food, mischief (yes you can download mischief), and a kitten for Felix to play with. I think there's other stuff too, but whatever else there is, it's not free. You can get Felix and his extras at http://www.catslikefelix.com. He's really cute.

I'd download it, but I'm not too sure about it. A year or more ago, I found something similar to this called BonziBuddy. I downloaded it and thought it was pretty cool, which it was. It was this little purple gorilla that would swing across your desktop or sit on your taskbar, and he would talk and tell jokes and eat bananas and stuff while you watched him. I didn't think there was anything wrong with it until a week later when my dad was running a check on the computer with SpyBot and found a whole bunch of spyware that apparently had come with BonziBuddy itself. :/ Not to burst your bubble or anything, but if you download it, be careful.

Desktop buddies are notorious for screwing up computers and being made of spyware.

Ugh, I had that BonziBuddy issue too, even ended up paying something. O_o Then I tried to uninstall it, but it's still partially installed, even after all these years... :\

I'm also a little hesitant to possibly go through the same thing again.

Hehe, downloaded it. No spyware or anything to report as of now! It's cute and really amusing to play with, but it gets old and boring after a while. Fun and delightful while it lasted, though.

I *love* desktop pets.

I used to have a ton of them. I had a desktop plant, but it would always die on me.

I haven't downloaded any new ones since my computer was reformatted. Maybe I'll give this one a try, at least on the girls computer.

I had BonziBuddy on my computer before. That sucker hid crap everywhere. It was *horrible* to get rid of. The worst part is I didn't even download it on purpose. I had accidently clicked on a popup and it downloaded.

I used to have a lot of desktop tamagotchis. I should look those up again.
