Very nice - but yes, take care of it! :) I've been thinking of getting a tattoo for a few years now and spoke to a few tatt artists in preparation (what a geek aye!).

Go to the pharmacy/chemist and get some SecondSkin - this is like a clear band-aid but it was formulated for burns. It's gentle and will protect ur tattoo while it heals. Don't wet the tattoo i.e. no baths and pat dry very gently with lint-free towel after showers. Vit E is good, although I've been told there are special formulations you use for the first 3-6 weeks until it heals. And loads of sunscreen! Every time you bare the tattoo to the sun (so says the guy who will be custom-drawing my tattoo when I'm ready).

Hmm ok I think this is enough mother henning from me tonight, sorry bout that :) Honestly, you had more taste than me when I wanted one at 18... I wanted a templar cross on my shoulder blade

You can get it wet. I showered and mine is on my back so it was going to get wet. What you want to do is avoid putting it directly under the nozle so it isnt hit with the force of the water. It is still ok to get it wet though.

If I'd have ended up getting the tattoos I wanted when I was 17, I would regret it so much by now.

But I guess the original topic of the thread is already done for, I was just drawn in because I'm considering getting another tat this week.
