Anything and everything goes in here... within reason.

The X has a lot of really important genes. Without it, a mammal wouldn't exist, and chances are that the embryo would spontaneously abort.

If I am correct (and I am most likely INCORRECT, so don't trust me on this!), it is possible to have one Y chromosome. There could be an issue with the cell's division (similar to that which causes other aneuploidies... instances of aneuploidy... whatever the plural is) that leaves the egg with no gender chromosome. However, the fetus would spontaneously abort.
... I like the term "spontaneous abortion." And "aneuploidy."
Anyway, I'm female. At least, I think I'm female. Hmm.

XX
Err...I don't really know what else to add, except that I noticed that the gender hack is gone.

Seriously though how many people don't know that two X chromosomes means female?
I had no clue what was going on until I read atleast 3 replies.

I'm almost certain I have XX chromosomes. Yup, girl.
I like how the girls take over the boys >D

Never actually looked at my cell nuclei under a microscope, but judging by more macroscopic signs, I'm pretty sure that mine make an X.

Theres a few other genetic mutations that have to do w. missing peices of chromosomes. Usually if the child does live through birth, they have a short and painful life ahead of them. And thats scary.
but on a nongenetic level: the girls by far outnumber the boys around here.
PPT need moar boys!

I didn't know the different chromosomes before I read someone's post. Im only 14 though, but I did do something on chromosomes in biology today come to think of it. It was some boring video that was something like 15 years old, with little animations explaining genetic stuff.

I am XY, according to you guys and my biology teacher.
Anyways, can you please tell me more about the rare syndromes as my teacher wanted me to find out as a HW task.
