My four legged green pet has one red patch on each side of the head, and all along I thought she was a tortoise. Now, I am not sure what is she is.

Considering how many species of turtles/tortoises there are... I wouldn't be surprised if more then one has a red patch. A good way of telling between the two. Turtles carapaces (ie. the shell) on the bottom are rigid. They can't move. A tortoise has a carapace that has the ability to bend. As well, most turtles have flippers, and tortoises generally have land feet.
