How on earth can you be noticing it then? A blink is phenomenally fast, but you're noticing blindness?

I get these blanks when I've been lying down for ages or stand up after a lesson at school- basically what Bangel said and its because I have low blood pressure. I also had iron deficiency a while back so it could be because of that like Apricus said.
I'd suggest you have something along these lines and you should go and see the doctor if you're worrying. On the other hand there's probably not much you can do about it!

OTish: Reading back over what Shakira_Shoyru said I remembered having something like that happen to me in a Welsh lesson last year. We were having a group discussion and my eyes just started being weird and I had kinda the opposite of tunnel vision and it was really blurry. It lasted about half an hour and I got really scared by it! It was a few months after my dad died so I guess it was stress. Maybe your problem could be caused by stress but it doesn't really sound anything like that...

Lowell.

A particular kind of migraine does that- my sister has that type, and she will go blind in ther right eye from anywhere from a few seconds to 15 minutes, more if she has caffiene.

I get those types of migraine too. However with mine it's more like my vision field is becoming blurred and is filled with little zigging/zagging moving lines that obscure my vision. They're highly frustrating. For some people they mean the onset of a migraine, but for me they don't. Thats all they are.
