HAHA. I had them last night and this morning for breakfast.
There aren't many traditional lanterns around when I was strolling in the park last night...Most of them are glow sticks and such. Which is a total pity. I love the fluffy bunny! When they are not on fire (there was this yaer someone set it on fire by accident). I just like most of the traditional paper ones, they're so cool. Batteries one and glow sitcks one are not my type. I prefer candle light. Makes me think of the people in the olden days; they must have enjoyed it a lot.
Happy mid-autumn festival! Abandon cookies for now and eat mooncakes!

Yes, it really is brighter and rounder (the moon.) I looked last night. I told my baby brother it was a big mooncake in the sky
They're putting too much sugar in mooncakes these days. So my family didn't buy them -_- But my school gave us half a mooncake at lunch ^_^ Also, I have today, tomorrow and Friday as a Public Holiday, so no school. And right after that there's the weekend.
Yesterday we had an Assembly at school. At the very end they turned off the lights and everyone started throwing glowsticks into the air. Really pretty. And we were having fun until the Headmaster yelled, "Will you please stop throwing those things around!"

Today in the Asian supermarket my mum commonly/usually goes to, they were selling four moon cakes for $23.00, but if you bought that you'd get another four moon cakes. About $3.00 per cake, then.

According to my brother (is this right?), "No one's doing anything for Mid-Autumn in Vancouver." Poor, poor him. Mooncakes are good. I went out with a lantern last year and had fun carrying that around. This year I just went to bed early and slept like a pig.

Well, yeah, no one really is doing anything for Mid-Autumn here. The celebration rates are steadily declining- you'll practically never see anymore lanterns or influx of people buying mooncake anymore. It all sucks.
We were pretty lucky with the moon today. Earlier on in the evening, it was very, very large, yellow, and completely clear. Now it's higher up in the sky, and an extremely flourescent-like bright white.
The moon was so low early this evening that my sister and I could literally see a face while my dad was driving us to the restaurant for our festival dinner. Traffic lights for eyes, the moon for the nose, and streetlights for the mouth, formed an inmistakable (I swear!) figure of a face. (I may go into more detail about this on LJ, haha. XP)

Haha. My sister also brought home a Chinese lantern home from the festival she went to. You're meant to stik a candle inside it...wouldn't the whole lantern catch fire?

Mooncakes = delicious. Mmmm...
I've had mooncakes every year. Never missed it. It's a once in a year delicacy, so I try not to miss it. But really, that's basically all I did to celebrate. I don't have time to stay up late and eat fruit and stuff with my family anymore, with my exams just five days away.
P.S. The moon in Malaysia was BRIGHT, ROUND and BEAUTIFUL. ^_^

It's been cloudy at night here, so no moon. There are no Asian markets neaby, so no moon cake. It makes me sad.

You live in Malaysia? I was born there...but my parents moved here to New Zealand because mum was too hot. Meh....
ANd yes, mooncakes are delicous. We bought these large-sized one for the free $23 one...y'know. One had a "frozen" egg yolk inside with lotus paste, and the other one just lotus paste.

You mean umm...in Chinese, "red dragon fruit"? Ah shoot, I'm not sure if it's that in English. I've never really liked it...it's too weird for me.

Chaud, sometimes the lanterns do catch on fire. I asked my mother what to do if mine caught fire and she told me to drop it and let it burn. But only on concrete ground.

Man...I was so depressed the last two weeks that I missed the equinox completely...

Hopefully I won't forget about Samhain...but no wonder I felt so at piece on my birthday even though it was smurfy. Yay for being an equinox baby!
