It's amazing that some people develop a serious hatred for places like myspace...

my advice is... if you don't like it - don't subject yourself to it... It only takes a click to get off it.

No one is thrusting it in your face.

hear hear!!!

Personally, I use it to keep in touch with people in my creative graduate program. But I don't go looking at people's pages I don't know well or trying to find new people. Less aggravation that way. :)

Yeah... I have not had any problems with MySpace yet, and I doubt that I will have any major ones in the near future. Right now I am letting all of my friends find me, so I don't have to waste my time searching through people'e lookups that I don't know.

Myspace is addictive, but then you get to a certain point and don't see why. I have one, and i'm on quite a bit. I don't love it. I don't hate it.

Well, you're actually very wrong, but I won't go into that (it'll just become an essay-length post, though this is a border-line Debate board topic anyway...)

The topic asks for opinions. How boring would it be to see every single person saying "I love MySpace" just because people don't want to see others' negative opinions on it...?

It's okay, I guess. I have a homepage on there but I don't use it very often - the people IRL whom I need to keep in touch with are mostly on Bebo, which is the real spawn of satan IMHO, but it does the job.

I have a myspace, i dont go on it very often, but it has got me back in contact with some of my old school friends, which is nice.

I actually prefer facebook, as it has some really nice functions (like saying how you know someone) and doesnt play music when you open pages - that really annoys me!!! although you have to have a school/uni email to sign up to facebook, which sucks

Ach, in high school it was "You know, you need to get a MySpace" every three minutes. Then I got one, and the evil pixies went away.

A great reply for this is - Yeah, I've got once but I haven't looked at it for like a year.

Gosh, I didn't realise my post would get such as reaction. I gave my opinion, then I gave my reaction to others opinions. Perhaps this topic should have been on the debating board.

Everyone at my school has one, and it is constantly shoved down your throat- "ALEX WHY DON'T YOU HAVE A MYSPACE???" "I do!" "BUT YOU DON'T USE IT" "Because I don't get the point!" "SO WHAT GET A MYSPACE BLAH BLAH BLAH GINGER"

myspace 24/7 for most of the people I know. And it's not even that I don't really get why it's so great, it's more along the lines of I join and then find out that absolutely no one I know has any familiarity with the English language whatsoever. Just omgomgomglololololololololololol and multiple, violent abuses of punctuation and abbreviations. Most of my loling friends are supposedly highly intelligent, yet I can't hold an online conversation with them without my eyes starting to hurt.

Don't get me wrong, I think it's fully okay to not use proper English when IMing people and such, but not when it's to the point that I can't understand what you're saying. And it's extremely difficult to find people my age (I'm 15 and everyone around me appears to be braindead) who make an effort to be understood.

And yeah, the Myspace angles and really bad Photoshop jobs don't help, either. Or the glittery animated backgrounds or fluorescent green font.

I'm sure that Myspace isn't all THAT bad, and that it's just the few (i.e. masses and masses) idiots who make it appear so, but I really don't want to have to take the time to find the diamonds in the rough.

...This is probably why I have no IRL friends.

Fun for friends? Or evil tool of the devil?

I say neither. I do have a Myspace account, I don't know for how long. I still have it just to keep in touch with some friends, and to know new bands. Actually, most of the people on my friends list are bands. :P I'm a nice lady, I like to promote them (yeah, right! :roflol: ).
I do some bulletins quizzes occasionally when I'm bored, or when waiting for something to finish. And that's it. I don't care about the comments, I don't even upload new pictures, I still have the same piccies there because I love them, although they're almost two years old. That's just another entertaining site, that's all.

I've never seen the point of myspace. it seems like a place where you make a profile, and sit there and blog or something like that. and then you spam friend requests to everyone you see. if someone would explain why it's fun or addicting or anything like that, it would be much appreciated.

I think Myspace is WONDERFUL. It allows you to keep in contact with people you no longer have the plasure of calling or such. I don't use E-mail, MSN or other things...just myspace. I love it, and would be lost without it.

Mon Aug 28, 2006 10:41 pm

I have never used MySpace though I do check out other people's MySpaces from time to time.

To me it has too many options at the top and I personally find it more confusing than LiveJounal at the moment, and it took me a while to join LiveJounal.

My opinion in this topic is that MySpace is fun for the people who have gotten used to it but not to any of the people who are MySpace newbies who feel that haven't learn enough of MySpace's features to know what is what. It is like the old saying that goes you got to crawl before you can walk.

If anyone didn't get what I meant then I will explain.
The crawling refers to finding your way around MySpace. Whereas the walking refers to know where to go on MySpace.

I guess you could I am on the netural side on MySpace as I neither like or dislike MySpace. I prefer to judge something when I tried something as first appearances can deciveing.

This guy however is going too far on his MySpace opinions.

It like werepup said no one is forcing anyone to join MySpace if they don't want to and you shouldn't hate something because you haven't tried it.

I eventually I see myself joining the MySpace community after I have found out what options on MySpace do what.

No he's not! that's absolutely hilarious! yeah, it's probably insulting to people who use myspace a lot, but whatever. he's a wrestler, so his opinion means fairly little
