The Pope's Condition

I will be glad when he's dead. Do you know why? Because I think he is suffering so much, not only because of his illness but because people will NOT leave him alone to die in peace.

But thats the thing, he was a people person. If he's still awake (i'm not sure if he is) he could easily command for the square to be cleared of people.
I'm not sure how much he is suffering, from what i've heard on TV when he was still concious he was praying quietly and asking the people in the square to pray with him. Not everyone wants to be alone in death, and for someone whose spent their whole life working with people... why be left alone now?

I actually think that he was 'left alone' to die would be sad, I don't see how anyone would want to die alone. Saddest thing ever.

I didn't really mean it like that. I meant the fact that it's all over the news. People are saying this and saying that and just won't leave him be. I know he's the pope and everything but I'm sure that the press and reporters and the like are all around him. He should just have those close around him, not reporters.

Press and reporters? Doubt it! They have a press room in which they describe the condition the Pope is in to the reporters. I'm sure you get the special Paperazzi and News Journalists who are aloud to get special stuff from the pope, like the Royals' Team people, but no random reporter is going to get to surround the pope on his deathbed.

I think the general sentiment of being left alone is to die without being harrassed by throngs of people who barely know you. It isn't so much about dying alone, but dying in dignity and privacy.

I think that the people gathering is something that the pope doesn't mind, perhaps even likes. These people are solemnly praying for him and supporting him. They aren't trying to take advantage of his death.

The press aren't anywhere in his quarters. They're not allowed in. It's a strictly closed environment. The press only know what the Vatican tells them right now, and up until that time they can only speculate, which is what they've been doing.

Yea. The onlt thing the press knows is what they're told, and that the papal apartment lights are on, which many believe to be a symbol that he's still alive. But you must commend the pope's strength. Quite a few people thought he would be dead by this time yesterday.

Pope John Paul II was, in my opinion, the greatest pope we ever had. He will be a saint. I believe he was, as many people referred to him, the People's Pope. He will be missed.

I agree with that, I am his religon and he was a great pope. I could never forgive someone for shooting me. I will miss him dearly and my prayers go with him that he will be fine in Heaven. God Bless Pope John Paul II, the best pope ever.

Dude it's sad, that man the pope was just wonderful, lead the collapse of the Berlin Wall, and then he was probly the cause of the fall of the Soviet Union and other communist powers. He as also done tons of human rights stuff too and it doesn't matter what religion you were he was a great man. I think I might have him as my desktop background.

They were right about people doing a quick pilgramage to the Vatican, since I live in Germany which is one of the countries that some might take to go to Rome and the Vatican and when I was on the Autobahn with my mom and sister we saw a few Polish licence plates.

Actually, if you check the time of death, when you posted this he was not dead.

I am very sad that the pope has died, but I hope that he has now found peace and shall be able to finally get some rest from the work that began in 1920 when this extrordinary man was born.

But what I'm now wondering is who the next leader of the Holy See will be. I personally think that they shall not live up to Karol Wojtyla as he has done so much for civilization.
