I had wanted to get them before school and cheerleading started but that didn't work out. I can already see this is gonna be painful. Well lets hope i remember this information once i need it.

I had to get four teeth pulled off before I could get my braces!

Ditto o.O That part probably hurt the most after the anesthaetic wore off X.x But I never used the painkillers he gave me xD

Oh, and brace colour? I dunno, mine are white/semi-transparent right now. I suppose whatever colour looks good on you will do. When I had bright red a few months ago, every time I looked into the mirror at a distance and suddenly smiled, it looked like there was blood on my teeth xP

XD I used painkillers but I don't really think it made a difference.

I heard somewhere that the transparent colour wasn't good for your teeth. O_O Don't ask me why, it's just what I've heard.

XD I can just imagine that happening to me. Good thing I stuck with teal/blue.

Crescendo wrote:Just curious, what are some good colors for braces? Here are some to stay away from (mostly personal experience, here):

Yellow
Bright Green
Dark Colors (especially navy and violet)
White
Clear
Pink (only a few shades...they blend with your gums and give an icky effect)

Add orange to that. Mine has faded into a gross peachy pink colour that looks like I have food in my teeth.

My friend used to have red and green to go with the Christmas theme. (Hey that rhymes :P)

I just got mine off on Tuesday and am wearing retainers now... all I can say is I dislike retainers -__- so uncomfy, but I'll have to get used to it sooner or later. The taking off process is a lot less painful (though strange) than when you have it on.

You'll get used to it over a few month.

Then when you have them off you'll smile like this :D:D

Heh.

What are those?

I had a tooth pulled out a little while ago. It was horrible because my face got soo swolen and puffy, I was living of soup for a week, and I had to have it cold, and all I could drink was water. I lost half a stone. :D

The only good thing about me getting braces is that I get to miss a few days of school. :D

My god you're lucky then. When I got them, I still had to go to school because in the morning my teeth still felt okay, but a few hours later, I was practically drowning in agony and self-pity o.O And I couldn't eat lunch x.x

ouch! I want to get the cosmetic brace. Though it doesn't really matter because it should only be on my bottom jaw. How long does it normally take to get used to them?

Thu Aug 11, 2005 1:37 pm

You got to miss school for having braces? Lucky you.

The pain goes away after a week at most, though every time the orthodontists tweak something, your jaw will be temporarily sore again. Advil helps a lot.

Question, do clear braces hurt as much as normal braces?

Indeed.

When I got brackets + bands, I went to the dentist during school hours (walked), got them put on, then walked back up.

I walked slowly, so what, I missed about 5 minutes? :P
