around here, i believe that you can get just about anything pierced at age 13 with your parents permission and when your 17/18 you don't have to have your parents there to sign all the papers and whatnot.

I LIKE piercings but sometimes it gets on my nerves when people overdo it, you know what i mean? I don't mind the ears or maybe a private one(if you get my drift) but things like tongues and noses, and chins is kinda going to far for me. my 2 cents

... not. I don't get the deal on why we should mutilate our bodies in the name of fashion. Earlobes are fine, but not the other places.

So everyone who gets a piercing does it "in the name of fashion"? I certainly didn't. I did it because I like them. It has absolutely nothing to do with fashion.

Don't worry Kyra. I'm sure Qanda buys brand name clothes.

Just two, one in each ear. I'm too much of a coward to get anything else done, though I'm kinda considering getting another hole in each ear. How bad could that be?

Kyra - why do you like piercings?

xerai - No I do not. I am a total fashion disaster. :P

I guess I just like the idea of having rings in your face, something that you don't see exceedingly often. Plus, my nose piercing makes my gargantuan nose look smaller. ^^;;

I love how they look as well =)

I'm going to get my navel done in a few months, which I'm *so* happy about.

I had my ears pierced when I was 4 or 5. I let them close up last year because I don't like them.

To be honest Qanda, it's virtually impossible to buy clothes that don't have a brand. I didn't mention whether the brand was popular or not.

yes Paul, put 'brand name' is a coloquialism that means a popular brand so don't try and get smart. Ach, kids.

Kyra, it has everything to do with fashion. You don't get piercings to make yourself look worse, do you? Why does anyone get a piercing, eh?

Yay, at last someone agrees. :P

Well, not saying anything against anyone here, but in a survey on teenage fashion trends conducted by a project group in my class last year, 74% of the respondents said that they would be turned off by people who had piercings on body parts other than in the earlobes, 16% said they didn't mind while 10% said they thought it looked cool.

Of course, that doesn't prove anything since the culture here and the culture where you are staying may be different.

Depends on the piercing. Some piercings you don't even see, like mine...I sincerely doubt that's for fashion.

I agree, its nothing to do with fashion. The actual reason for most body piercings (excluding certain facial piercings) is to erm heighten sensitivity to certain areas... and no Im not just talking about the obvious ones!! :P

*spits water out at the screen* LOL xjox. You took the words right out of my brain.

ROFL.
OK, but it still has a lot to do with fashion. If it didn't then why have these piercings become so popular and mainstream? Very few people would know about them if they weren't, or hadn't as some point been 'in fashion'.
Not that many people wake up one day without any prior knowledge of piercing and go 'hell, i'll stick some metal through my nose'
