Jobless...No More!

Perhaps some of you may remember myself posting a topic on finding a job. Well, after applying to my local grocery story for a year and half and not receiving any calls, I gave up.
Recently, a McDonald's nearby, decided to hire and my mom forced me to apply (I was quite reluctant too based on my past experiences) and I went for an interview (The manager's were interviewing everyone one on one). I walked in and one manager interviewed me and gave me a second interview. He told me to wait a few minutes and the second manager arrived. After a while, he offered me the job on the spot and I took it.
Now comes the question, what did I get myself into? What can I expect from this job? This is mainly directed to anyone who is working in the fast food industry or has worked in it. I need to know what I got myself into.
But I am excited!

Well. If someone asks for ketchup, *do not* give them 25 unless they ask for that many. Everyone does that out here.

I'll trade you jobs.
You can work at the dairy, packing cheese for 6 hours, and then cleaning for 2 hours, but you have to be at work by 6 am, and be willing to stay until 5, and you must be prepared to stand there and be cold; and then while cleaning you must be prepared to be soaking wet for a couple hours.
Sound OK to you?
I"d actually prefer your job... dear lord. Mc Donalds though? None around where I live, just a dairy queen.
On a tip, if a customer is standing there, waiting for their order, and it's waiting in those little hot things for them; DO NOT, and I repeat, DO NOT stand there chatting with a friend while the food sits and gets cold (the hot things aren't that effective). It makes customers mad, and then people yell... and then other people cry...

I've been told it's really bad to be eating something in front of the counter where people order stuff. Doesn't seem that bad to me. If I saw a guy eating while fufilling orders, I'd probably order whatever he's eating too. o_o

Congratulations!
I've never worked at McDonald's, but some of my friends have. Based on their stories, I gather that you should just assume that your customers are nuts from the get-go.

Thanks for the congratulation comments, I really appreciate it!
As for the tips, thanks a lot though. I mean, I don't count on meeting any nice customer and I hope I don't get mad. Because if I get mad, I yell and I don't want to lose my job before it starts.

Congrats! A friend of mine worked at McDonalds for a few years. The only things she warned me about was that if you're doing the fries be careful not to get burned because she burned herself a few times. Also customers for the most part can be crazy.

Paul, that community is hilarious!
I actually never worked in a McDonald's, which is odd considering all the jobs I had when I was younger. Dunkin Donuts was actually the worst fast food type job I had. Yeah, I did get fired from that job - I poured a pot of coffee in someone's lap after they reached over the counter and grabbed my bottom.
I did alot of retail/banking/working with the public type jobs for many years. One of my banking jobs I had someone throw a phone at me! Yes I threw him out, yes I was threatened with being fired
OK, try to keep your equilibrium, think of this as a learning experience. This won't be easy because you are going to get rude/annoying/idiotic customers. The 'No I didn't order that, I ordered this' stuff (when they change their mind after ordering); the happy meal promos will drive you mad - I want THAT toy, not this one! The people who will pay you in change and stand there laboriously counting pennies holding up the line. The people who've been in line, staring at the menu, get to the counter and not know what they want and change their order 5 times. Oh, and don't forget the people in line with screaming children. That'll really make your day.
It seems that you'll be doing alot of different jobs from working the grill to making the meals to working the counter to cleaning. At least the McD's I go to I've seen that.
On the positive side - this is an opportunity to make a little money (yay), to learn to do different things, to learn to control your temper and your tongue and how to deal with different people. Hopefully, your workmates will be great too. That can go a long way, especially if you are having a bad day. Any job can have good and bad days, doesn't matter what you're doing. At least you'll be working indoors, you're wearing a uniform so you won't have to worry about what to wear, and I think you get either free or very low cost food - no lunch or dinner money to worry about.
