For possibly the few people on here who may have bought it yesterday, it's awesome! The controls may take a while to get used to and you can't sidestep (I hate that), but it's a good path away from the norm. I love knocking down the ladders when enemies are at the top of them. Anyway, for you that have played it, post your thoughts here.

Well, I'm in the UK but I have an american gamecube (because my parents bought me one for my christmas in 2001) but my cousin is currently in Florida on holiday and I asked her if she could get me RE4 and yesterday I got an e-mail and attached to it was a picture of the game! One question though, does the game have any zombies in it at all or it it all just villiagers and monks with strange tattoos?

MAN! I want this game so badly but my mom would kill me if she even saw me watching a trailer for it. I hope this game makes the Cube sell like mad. Gamespot gave it a 9.6 and GREG reviewed it. For those of you who don't know, Greg is the hardest reviewer on the site. IGN gave it a 9.8 and they had their hardest reviewer review it. I WANT THIS GAME!
And to answer you Ixistant, there are no zombies in the game but there are some "other" things in the game.

Oh well. But at least when we blow the villaigers heads off we get a satisfying 'SPLAT!'. And I know about the troll/thing that the villagers released. And the magazine I read got an exclusive play of the game's demo but it actually allowed them further than any of the other demo's. Here's a bit in the tame they saw.
Leon is about to be killed by a person in a house and a cut-scene happens and the person is shot by a lady in a red dress who's hanging above the window. The lady's initials are A.W. Know who it is yet?

Heh, I'm about that far in the game, although nothing like that has happened yet. Of course its
|Ada Wong I'm not far enough to realize the point of this person being in the game, or even if she is good or not (I've only seen her once and I'm 16 hours into the game). It's a LOT different than any of the other games. The joy you feel when you knock over a ladder full of villagers and the wails they make as they fall down, priceless. This game is a lot longer than the others (most were usually 4-10 hours depending on your play... I think, and there are two discs this time around.
There are no zombies, but they made a very decent replacement for them. You can't forget the chainsaw guy in some of the pictures. Gotta love those one-hit kills.

Well, I think that since
Ada Wong is in the game
Albert Wesker would have to be in it too because in a report that was released on the RE website it said that
Wesker rescued Ada. and the original RE had 2 discs in it. I know because I have it

That's very much a possibility. I haven't gone to any forums or FAQs in fear of spoilers, so I'm not sure yet, but it would be logical. He is mentioned in the game, and he may very well be at the end of the game.

Yea. Same here. But I'm hoping to high heavens that one particular character is in the game. And that character... is Tofu.

I beat it yesterday (in 25:00 hours, 20 is average) and it was well worth it. The extra modes aren't much (but entertaining for a while) but the harder difficulty is very challenging and I'm trying to see if I can do it on a more difficult mode. But yes, definitely recommended.

Yes, Capcom backstabbed Nintendo by originally planning RE4 for only the cube but then a few months ago they decided that they would realease it on the PS2 about a year after the cube version. One quick thing to note though before you decide to wait for the PS2 version, RE4 was designed specifically(SP?) for the gamecube. It was made with the gamecube hardware in mind and not the PS2's. The PS2 also has longer load times and worse graphics and graphics are one of the main attractions of RE4. Just do yourself a favor, go pick up a cube bundle with Metroid prime for $99 and buy RE4 with it. Believe me, those two games alone make your purchase worthy. And, if you need even more reason to go pick one up, there is a SWEET new zelda game coming out this year. It is easily the most anticipated game of '05 for any system. JUST GO BUY A CUBE!

Yeah, he's right, you want the Gamecube for this game. When they switch this to the PS2, the controls are going to be awkward (I don't see how they can make it as effective as the GC) and the graphics that are great on the GC will probably be a lot lower on the PS2. Not to mention that it's the end of this year, which is almost, if not going into new generation territory. This is coming from someone who prefers the PS2.

Well, I rented it on Gamefly a few days ago, and beat it last night. The game is definitely much harder than the other RE games, and I've played pretty much all of them. The main challenge is that since you're fighting humans instead of zombies, the AI is better. You try to cap them in the head, and they sidestep, they duck, and running past them is much harder (a tactic I commonly use in other RE games. It is survival horror and not "shoot everything" after all). In this game, you wind up having to kill pretty much all your enemies. Also, while I was originally excited about being able to shoot the enemies in the head, I soon found that it is not the easy kill I expected. Granted, now I can kick them down and knife them, but that's only usefull against 1-2 foes. So, yeah, awesome RE game, but much tougher compared to the others. Now, to keep trying to beat Mercenaries and Assignment Ada, or send it back and get FF: Crystal Chronicles...
