Ah video games cliches. Actually, I know some kid in my history class who has the shirt called "Things I Learned From Playing Video Games." A few things I can think up of off the top of my head are...
Whenever you kill an enemy, it will soon dissapear.
Random ninjas walk around in broad daylight.
You need no knowledge to operate any device.
Before your enemies die they will flash different colors.
If you see food on the ground, eat it.
I love old school video game cliches.
EDIT: A cliche for Final Fantasy. Not really a cliche, maybe it's the wrong word. But all enemies will carry items to them would be useless but for you are profitable. (Money, armor, swords.) But I love my dearest Final Fantasy. *hugs*

I think i know a few...
Most of the main char. you play, don't fully talk, only say crys when fighting.
They will cry any time they slice or punch at something, but, when they get to people, it seems like they do sign language or something, or just everyone naturally can read your his mind.
Any new items you get is glorified when you get it. "Ahhhh a BOOMERANG"
People leave unlocked treasure chests everywhere.
When you go through some fortress, they kindly leave you stuff for your survival ....
People leave money in bushes.

The one that I think is the funniest is that in all but a few games (mostly RPGs) you can go into other peoples' houses and take things from their drawers, chests, and whatnot without the peopel living there calling for help or even saying something about it.

You've played
Ty the Tazmanian Tiger, haven't you :-P
--It's ok to steal things from people, as long as they're criminals...
--You can EASILY outrun stun-gun bullets fired by an Interpol officer
(Sorry, I've been playing
Sly Cooper too much....

My fav RPG one has to be, the first town you start in, does not matter if it in the middle of no where or in the center of the world, it will always carry the weakest item for you, town that are very run down will carry better items.
O and the would be final bad gues, will fight you early on, you will either beat him up and he says he testing you or he will drain you to 1hp and then leave. Later you kill him.

In Zelda, the weapon you get in the dungeon is the one you always need for the boss. Stuck? Just use that new toy you found.
Also...those final bosses never die! They just get reincarnated into more powerful forms.

Let's smash crates! I don't know why, but look! There's a crate! Let's smash it because there's always some kind of goodie inside, like new weapons, armor, or even money! Yay!
The last game I played like this was Xenosaga Episode I: Der Wille Zer Macht

The Hero (or any important character) has so much of an angsty past that they've blocked it off until a crutial point in the story.
The character that's probably the best in your party (or can control for a short amount of time) gets killed or turns on you mid-way through the game.

An unvoiced, deep love between the two main characters, who can't be together for whatever reason it is.
