Good RPG games

Mon Sep 18, 2006 1:52 pm

I've been searching all over, but I still can't find a good one.
As some people may know, I couldn't download Maplestory due to my graphic card, meaning I can't play other ones like it, either
Any one have a good suggestion, please?

Well, you're pretty much limited. I was gonna suggest FlyFF and Rappelz, but their graphics requirements are more than MapleStory.

You could try Runescape...

What about Lost Magic on the DS which is both a RTS and a RPG?

Well I assume you have a Pc or Mac so...

Baldurs gate 2, you can get this and its expansion (Throne of Bhaal) Plus the original For a tenner nowadays.
Best. RPG. Ever.

Edit: Fudged that a bit.

Maybe the Avernum/Geneforge games? You can find them here:

Wow, this is an old thread.

I love turn based RPGs. If you want some really good ones, here is my list:

Shadow Hearts - definately NOT a typical RPG. It is a Lovecraftian gothic horror. Excellent characters and storyline. Battles are interesting due to the judgement ring, which is tough to master. Its old though, so the graphics aren't as exciting as newer games.

Shadow Hearts Covenant - the sequel (don't play it first as it WILL spoil the entire first game). Excellent battle - they tweaked the judgement ring to be more user friendly. Also, the graphics are MUCH nicer. And the story, while still dark, is much funnier. In a very non-PC move, they decided to have an old man who plays with dolls as a party member along with a gay vampire. And bikers who like to sew dresses.

Grandia - one of the best RPGs ever made. Its up there with Final Fantasy. Its a very long adventure, with great characters, and wonderful battle system.

Grandia II was awesome as well. Never played the 3rd one, due to lack of time.

Funniest. Game. Ever. And one of my favourite RPGs of all time. =D (though of course, it's still dark and serious at the same time.) Can you say "Man Festival"? x)

LOL. You can't take Penny Arcade comics seriously, they don't hate everything they make fun of. =P

And they have it wrong! They're collectible cards of male models, not what they said (I'm sure filters would pick it up). x) Though it's funnier the way they put it. Pretty much the rest of it is about right... you do give them to a homosexual tailor and he makes your puppet clothing... but I assure you, the Man Festival is far more outrageous than that aspect. xD

Super Mario RPG: Legend Of The Seven Stars is the greatest RPG that will ever be made ever.

Actually, as far as RPGs go, that one's not too good. Paper Mario and the Thousand-Year Door, however, is a very good one for Gamecube. Very silly, very fun.

And I second Super Mario RPG. A must-have if you still own a SNES or plan to use the Wii's virutal console to its potential.

If you want to play one of those GCN games, just save up for a Wii because not only can you play NES/SNES/N64 games via downloading them, but you can also use GCN discs.
