Alright, I started this thread talking about Alien Homonid, but got bored and am too lazy to make a new board. So I'm changing this one to "Most Underrated Games". Post which games you think are most underrated :)

ORIGINAL POST
Quote:
Anyone who visits Newgrounds reguarly would have played this game, and it's come out on PS2 and Gamecube!

Okay, most of oyu probably don't have any idea what I'm talking about, so I'll just direct you to the main site here.

Official Website
http://www.alienhominid.com/

Play the protoype
http://newgrounds.com/portal/view/59593

If you're too lazy to check, Alien Homonid is a 2D (yes 2D, bet you havn't seen that on a PS2) sidescrolling shooter. Imagine Metal Slug, but with a yellow alien instead.

Most of you would have proably gotten up to the part where I wrote 2D, and stopped reading, but for those of you that are still reading, good on ya :P

Personally, I'm looking forward to this game. I've played it on Newgrounds, and can't wait to try it on PS2. And just a side note, it's only $30, and most other games at that price range are... well kinda crap.

Just thought I'd tell you all about this game, since it seems as if it's set to become one of those gems which no one ever seems to notice or hear about.

*waves hands in air* Oh! Oh! I know that game! Yup. Saw the Interview-Biographyish thing of the dude that made it on G4 TechTV. He's one of my many role models, because I wanna start my own video game company some day. Yeah, okay, so I only know one other person that will help me, but that's beside the point. Anyway, you pretty much stated one of my major thoughts on this game.

You know whats funny? There are so many great games out there, which never get advertsised and never get the attention they deserve.

I'll give you a few examples: Unholy War, Hogs of War, Dark Cloud.

You've probably nevr heard of these games, but damn it, they're better than some of the supposedly top rated games.

Oh well, thats just me rambling on.

Thats pretty amazing though. Tum Fulp (dude who made Newgrounds) started off by printing comic type things in his basement. Then made a world popular website and now is making a PS2 and Gamecube game. Pretty good progress IMO :D

I'm really thinking about buying it, probably off ebay.

Well, you're right about that. Never heard of 'em. Too many overrated games in our society.

It's like, How in the world did he do that? Yeah, I'd say it's pretty good alright. I'd sure like to see how this game works out in the end. And some of these game designers start making stuff at about my age (13). Yeah, I envy them a bit.
The last game I made was... erm... nevermind. ^^;

I played that game at newgrounds. very fun.

I might pick up the PS2 version if it's a discount price. Unless it sells like Katima Damacy (or however it's spelled) and cannot be found anywhere.

I reckon this game won't be selling for very long. I'll have to check out EB and see if they're evcen selling it in Australia.

All I know is that they started selling it on 14th November or something like that in America. Lucky Americans. Always get everything first

And yeah Neowuvr, thats true. All these overrated games overshadow so many decent ones. Heck, most of these small games are made by independant companies, and they usually make the best games. I mean all I see on this board is a whole bunch of topics about Halo/2, Half Life 2 and GTA :P

I think I'll change this thread to "Most Underrated Games", coz that sort of seems in the direction we're heading in.

So on a semi-new topic, post what games you think are most underrated :)

I've heard of all of those games listed, but I don't really think Dark Cloud is underrated. It used to be talked about quite a bit and was popular around here. I never cared for it, but it was fun for a while.

As for underrated games, there are WAY to many to list:

Dynasty Warriors Series (PS2 and XBOX)
Zombies Ate My Neighbors (SEGA, HEY it's STILL underrated!)
Monster Rancher 2 (PSX)

I know there are a lot more, but I have to get ready for school. ^_^

Beond Good and Evil. (PS2) Now that game was underrated. Since it came out right before Price of Persia, it didnt recive much publicity and by the time it did, it was too late. Great game though.

The Settlers Series are totally underated and totally addicted if you have masses of spare time.

I've heard of that game (Beyond Good and Evil), but was never sure what it was about. I'm too lazy to really buy any games, most of the time, I just borrow them from friends for like 3 months.

Can't say I've heard of the Settler Series though.

wow, I can't count the number of people who have told me how good "Zombies Ate My Neighbors" for SNES is.

"Arc the Lad: Twilight of the Spirits" is a really good PS2 SRPG that get's lost in the genre. I just like it because it's not grid based and revolves more around tactics than building characters.

And for the truely old school: Daedalian Opus.
Hardest. Puzzles. Ever.

I agree with that. (Although I have the GCN version, not that it matters) That was one of the best games of the year. It was fun, engaging and full of humor. I really feel bad for the developers, it deserved to do so much better.

Unless you live in Germany, every German loves Settlers. :P

Zombies Ate My Neighbors is my favorite game of all time, but I lost my copy and I can't find it anywhere. :( Wow, and I thought I was the only fan of it. :) A long time ago, when I was about ten, I used to be afraid of the Snake Oids and I dreaded that level. Now it's one of my favorites, though there were tons of fun levels.

I also enjoyed Arc The Lad: Twlight of Spirits as well. Me and a friend got in an arguement once over if the game sucked or not. I think I won >_>

Maybe it is just me, but I've always though that the Silent Hill series hasn't gotten the recognition that it should have. One of the most creepy games in the Survivor/Horror genre, but it seems to be over shadowed quite a bit.

Eternal Darkness is another. I thought that game was awesome. It may have been mainly because of the insanity meter, but the game itself has it's own creepiness factor.
