Let's see:

Pokemon Ruby/Sapphire are good games. They're a great improvement over the series and there's a lot more to do in them aside from battle fellow trainers and "catch 'em all"

Metroid Fusion and Metriod Zero Mission are both good games. Zero Mission is a remake of the first Metroid, but a lot of stuff's been added. However, you probably won't beat these games without a guide, this series is very tricky to play without outside help.

Mario Kart: Super Circuit is a fun, addicting game. Not the best in the Kart series, but it'll entertain you.

Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga is an extremely fun RPG. The storyline is funny and it's hard to get bored when playing it.

There aren't very many of them, but they are interesting. One gym leader is a doulbe battle.

Let's see... good gba games- Definently Golden Sun, Golden Sun: The Lost age, Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga, Fire Emblem, Pokemon Ruby/Sapphire, Wario Ware Inc., And lots of games like Legend of Zelda: a Link to the Past and Super Mario Brothers 3 that were remade for the gba. If you like harvest moon games, Harvest Moon: Friends of Mineral Town is good, but it's not for everyone. And if you like strategy games (which I don't, except I love fire emblem for some odd reason) then you might try Final Fantasy Tactics Advance, Advance Wars, or Advance Wars 2. Kirby Nightmare in Dreamland is fun, but it's kind of short. Still a fun kirby game though. Mario Kart Super Circuit is another fun game. Both the Metroid games are fun if you like games like that. It all just depends on your tastes.

Golden sun and Golden sun: The lost age are definately two of the best games ever amde for the GBA. A lot of esoteric chat in the prologue, but once that is finished, a whoel new world will open:)

Lord of the rings: Two towers is also very good. And Tetris Worlds too, it never gets boring. Just a pity you can't save your scores.

And Simcity 2000 ofcourse:)

Of course I have to say Golden Sun and The Lost Age, the quite simply rule GBA. Fire Emblem 6 and 7 are also very good, Final Fantasy Tactics is ok If you are into long loonnngggggggg games.

A very easy gym leader team, might I add. The double battles in RS only use 2 pokemon, so this is a cinch. This game is a great RPG, with a very detailed battle system.

Here are some of my favorites by genere:

Strategy: Advance Wars 2: Black Hole Rising--The most fun war/strategy game on GBA. Very fun and challenging. If you can get 3 other friends to get it with you, you'll be in for a treat.

Sports: Mario Golf--Probably better than it's GC brother, because it has a plot and connectivity to the GC

Platformer: Mario Series or Metroid Zero--'Nuff said

Other: Wario Ware--If you're looking for a stupid game you can just pick up and play, this is one wacky, but enjoyable game.

Also, look for Namco and/or Pacman Collection games.

Be sure to look for Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories in 2005! (I just had to say that...)

Demikids maybe.. a good rpg, though I'd advise not to get Sword of Mana, thoroughly disappointing.. Final Fantasy Tactics Advance definatly, maybe Boktai.

Golden Sun and Golden Sun: The Lost Age are practically essential.
I reccoment Final Fantasy Tactics Advance, too.

Like others have said, Golden Sun 1+2.. A lot more involving than most rpgs I've found, if you don't run away from any battles as you're exploring you don't need to tediously 'train' your chars like in other games. Has lots of puzzles and storyline stuff to do, and the battles are pretty fast (you can skip most of the animations too).
Legend of Zelda is some nice non-rpg fun like most Zelda games.
Pokemon Ruby/Sapphire if you like rpgs/pokemon.
Mario and Luigi Superstar saga is good, although the two-character controls are a little annoying and hard to get used to IMO.
Warioware is really fast and crazy, lots of fun..
FFTA is good, though beware the battles are verrry long.. Stay away if strategy/rpg is not your thing because you have to love it to love this game (I do, but that's me :P ) Lots of menu surfing too.
The Sonic Advance series is pretty good too, if you like sonic style games.
Harvest Moon is good if you like that style of game.
That's pretty much all the GBA games I have now, except for Banjo-Kazooie, which wasn't that good(too short, controls are annoying). All the others I'd reccommend. I'd rent some first if you're not familiar with a certain type of game.

Pac-Man and Namco are actually good collections. It's the only game(the Namco one) that has "Pole Position."
