TNT going OTT

Tue Jun 01, 2004 1:19 am

Okay, so I wanted to create a new account. I thought what a nice name would be-- I know, "VernalBlossom".

Create it, then, seconds later:

This account's username was deemed inappropriate for this site. We cannot unfreeze an account with an inappropriate username. You may create a new username as long as it is appropriate for this all-ages site.

What the...
I created an account, VernalBlizzard, later, so Vernal isn't a naughty word.
However, I also have an account ArcticBlossom, so Blssom isn't a naughty word...

What the... :x

That's really weird O.o
I don't see anything wrong with the name "Vernalblossom" at all. They're going bonkers.

 i see absolutely nothing wrong with that username, they need to get a dictionary..

and is a username is inappropriate, why don't they just block it when people create those accounts? it would save alot of trouble and time wastage and effort. :?

The Neopets staff have been going a little loopy just lately. I think all the money they're raking in is going to their heads. :(

Maybe...you could try sending them an e-mail, IF you want to that far. But i doubt you'd get an answer. Mmm...yes they are going rather OTT weird they freezing you like that.

Looking at it, I figure their bots mistook "vernal" as something else (my guess is that the bot saw three of the letters that can be a part of a inappropiate word and thought it was that word)

Reminds me of that Frozen flash movie (that it might have taken things out of context.)

That's wierd. Espeicialy since there are so many more inappropreate names. I guess it's a newly instituted rule. It does seem like they should filter it at creation instead of freezing. Although if you said only seconds passed than that's slightly less bad.

The wording seems odd though. Does that mean if someone with an "innapropreate user name" gets frozen unfairly than they won't have a chance of getting their account back?

I hope freezing people for their usernames dosen't become a trend because they decided that mine is an inappropreate word despite not being a word at all (I can't type it on the chat boards etc.)

*blinks* That IS stupid. I have no idea how that came about. At least you hadn't really used the account at all...

The phrase is used in a poem that was written in 1832. Both the phrase (meaning spring flower) and the poem seem innocent enough to me, so I can only scratch my head in wonder at TNT's reasoning. Here's the poem:

THE MURDERED TRAVELLER

by William Cullen Bryant

THE MURDERED TRAVELLER -

When Spring, to woods and wastes around,

Brought bloom and joy again,

The murdered traveller's bones were found,

Far down a narrow glen. -

The fragrant birch, above him, hung

Her tassels in the sky;

And many a vernal blossom sprung,

And nodded careless by. -

The red-bird warbled, as he wrought

His hanging nest o'erhead,

And fearless, near the fatal spot,

Her young the partridge led. -

But there was weeping far away,

And gentle eyes, for him,

With watching many an anxious day,

Were sorrowful and dim. -

They little knew, who loved him so,

The fearful death he met,

When shouting o'er the desert snow,

Unarmed, and hard beset;- -

Nor how, when round the frosty pole

The northern dawn was red,

The mountain-wolf and wild-cat stole

To banquet on the dead;- -

Nor how, when strangers found his bones,

They dressed the hasty bier,

And marked his grave with nameless stones,

Unmoistened by a tear. -

But long they looked, and feared, and wept,

Within his distant home;

And dreamed, and started as they slept,

For joy that he was come. -

Long, long they looked- but never spied

His welcome step again,

Nor knew the fearful death he died

Far down that narrow glen. - -

THE END

I know what it is! *glances around fearfully and lowers voice into a conspiratorial tone*

You see, Adam was dating this girl, named June, right, but then Donna was comming in early, and walked in on the two making out. In disgust, Donna deemed adam Carnal, and that little June blossom a tramp. Well adam had it up to _-' here with Donna, and told her to watch the way her verbal use insulted others! Well! Donna would have none of that, and said if she ever saw that little vernal carnal blossom in the office again, she was going to call security! Well, every time a name ever comes close to the whole incident, it's blocked, because it's better to just forget about it... rumour has it, whilethey were making out, the screen they were at, was about Neoschools, that's why they can't seem to bring themselves to finish it!

Ah, now it all makes sense. Midnight, have you ever thought about writing one of those steamy romance novels? You know, the ones that have the cover showing the svelte manly man clutching the gasping scantily clad maiden to his chest.

Tue Jun 01, 2004 1:59 pm

Ah, la vie l'amore *stares into the distance dreamily* Unfortunately, I have started several stories, none of them steamy, sorry to say (well yet  ) But I have no initiative to finish. Ah, cae sarah sarah.
