Festival of Neggs 2025

So this was in the news today:

The Festival of Neggs is coming soon! While Kari may still be grey, nothing will stop her from putting together another great festival! With new Neggs and lots of fun prizes, this event is bound to be tons of fun!
There will be extra prizes for our Premium members and a mystery to solve for all! From April 10th through April 19th (4/10 - 4/19), check in daily for new clues and a chance at exciting items!

Naia is ready for another colourful Dip & Dye Neggs NC Event! Visit her during the Festival of Neggs starting on April 10th (4/10) with new items becoming available every day until April 22nd (4/22)!
Stay tuned for more information in the coming days!

It looks like this year it's going to be significantly shorter: 9 days (maybe 10) instead of 15+.

Day 1: Unis Clothing Shop You find a stash of Neggs hidden among the clothes!
After Kari picks them up, Ellia smiles and hands her a note.
"Huh, this is strange... it's addressed to me and the festival goers. Be sure to read it before picking which Negg you'd like!"
The note reads:
"Don't bother looking for the Neggs where the other shopkeepers helped you hide them. I have them now! More info to come soon. "

Day 2: Cog's Togs
You find the stash of Neggs underneath a few cogs!
Kari quickly picks them up. "We solved it! It's fun being on the other side of this with you. But don't worry, you can still pick whichever Negg you would like!"
There's a note with the Neggs:
"Did you know that the Petpet known as the Tuffala was first discovered nearby underneath the Moltara Obsidian Co. building?"

Day 3: The Robo-Petpet Shop
Mixed in with a fleet of GX-4 Oscillabots is the stash of Neggs!
Kari carefully grabs the Neggs. "I wish I had time to visit this shop more often. Luckily, finding Neggs is the perfect excuse to stop by! Speaking of, which Negg would you like?"
There's a note with the Neggs:
"Mira, the Space Faerie, adopted her very own Bython while on board the Virtupets Space Station!"

Day 4: Grave Danger
You dig up the Negg stash from under a pile of loose dirt!
Kari brushes off the Neggs. "Oh, thank goodness these didn't get eaten here! Go ahead and choose which one you would like."
There's a note with the Neggs:
"Professor Josh Kugar discovered a new Petpet species, the Talpidat, in a nearby crypt in Y24! Even though they eat Neggs, there are now two who live at the Neggery full-time!"

Day 5: Healing Springs
Marina is holding the Negg stash out as you approach.
With a smile, Kari takes the Neggs. "Thanks for keeping these safe. While the festival goer chooses their Negg, you wouldn't by chance be willing to tell me who gave you these? No? Didn't think so."
There's a note with the Neggs:
"The water from the Rainbow Fountain next door played a vital part in uncovering Topsi's secret identity before it was too late!"

Kari may be grey, but she is not out! She's ready to give the first clue. Think you have what it takes to solve it?
Scene 1
Kari:Hello. I'm glad to see so many festival goers this year. I know things have been hectic around Neopia, but seeing everyone gather for celebrations such as this warms my heart.
I do have to apologise, though. With Orion in his current state and Mira out in space, I wasn't able to go as big for this year's festivities as I would have liked.
However, thanks to many kind shopkeepers who volunteered to help out, all the Neggs were created and hidden just in time.
So with that, let the Festival of Neggs begin. Visit me again when you're ready for your first clue.

Scene 2
Kari: I'm sorry, I know this isn't what you signed up for when joining the festival, but it looks like we have mystery on our hands! Another note from the peculiar thief was left here.
It reads: "No need to worry, no need to fear. The Neggs are all quite safe here! I'll leave you a clue each day so that you too can join in the play! And for those quite smart, that solve them as quick as a dart, remember that for every phrase I turn, there is a bigger pattern! Can you guess who I am before the event ends and I have to scram?"
Hmm, that's odd... Well, the next clue is on the back of the note. So when you're ready, we can try and solve it together. How fun.

Scene 3
Kari: I have to admit, I was slightly worried at first about all this. Since I wasn't able to plan too much for this year's festival, I was touched when so many shopkeepers volunteered to hide Neggs for me. When I realised someone had ruined those plans, I felt so bad for all those who helped me.
But I'm starting to suspect they were in on this from the start, which is making me really excited to find out who is behind all this.
So far, all I can tell is that it has to be somebody who's been paying close attention to my most recent adventures...

Similar to last year, you don't get a separate NC negg to do something to; they're all available automatically. There are three different neggs you can can buy dye kits for: ?????. You can buy the kits individually for 650NC, or all three for 1500NC (savings of 450NC). Kits will be available to use until next year's event start, but are only on sale through May 11, 2022. Alternatively, you can buy a single dye kit that will allow you to get a single prize from your chosen negg. (I believe you're able to pick which item, just not the bonus item.)

The event has started. I am gathering info on the available neggs and prizes from the neoboards. It'll take me a few to get it updated as I've got to track down item images, etc, etc.

Grumpy rant:

I have lots of feelings about the items available and the items that were rereleased. Overall, I was hoping for some fun stuff...but I'm generally disappointed. There are literally no new actual negg items that have been found so far for the daily negg prizes. Maybe they'll at least throw us negg collectors a bone and give us the set of neggs as final prizes? At least then I'll be able to add SOMETHING to my gallery this year. And they've devalued 4 items in my gallery...as if that hasn't taken a hit enough in the last year with all the once-expensive neggs that are now worth nothing. Oh, and the NC portion looks like it had only one negg-related item...the completion bonus gift box, which of course, I can't trade for. Sigh. Don't mind me. I'm just grumpy because my usually favorite event of the year is not looking as exciting as it could've been.

My rant...

Not super excited about Neggfest right now, either. To be honest, not terribly excited about much of anything right now. Too much to do, not enough time or desire to do them. Neggfest is "one more thing on the pile of things to do", even though it is only a few minutes each day for a while. Forced myself to go out late last night and do something lingering before others messed it up before I could get to it. This is after finding a "whaaaat? What. Happened. Here.?" situation and then trying to get info as to what happened, why it happened and how we got to where we are.... Mission accomplished. Felt good, but now rather tired because I did not want to hit the hay for a couple hours after I got back home.

Got all the prize names from the neoboards and updated the first post. Working on images. I have no idea how to get the negg images. I looked through the code but there's no image urls that I can see.

There will not likely be a new clue tomorrow (4/11). I just found this article that has some interesting information in it. It also has all five neggs right next to each other, which would've been a heck of a lot easier for me to get the image URLs from earlier, but...oh well. I still found them earlier.

I will update the first post sometime tomorrow with the relevant FAQ info, etc, but in brief:
There will be a bonus for finding all neggs on release day, but day 1 is 2 days long. The participation prize will include a new avatar. It doesn't look like we'll have much in the way of dialogue this year aside from the text that's included when you find neggs (which thankfully, I grabbed today and put with the answers, as it struck me as unusual). I really ought to read the FAQs before hand, but...life has been so frustrating lately that it just didn't happen.

Going to check JN... And yep. Both of the prizes I want are premium only. Yeah. This is so ridiculously imbalanced, I actually want to just quit the event.

The Time Travel items were actually VERY expensive before this event. I paid almost 1 mil for the few talpidats that I bought to for my gallery - 4 of the paintable ones that are in there, plus an extra in case they came out with another one. They're obviously worth nowhere near that now. The background was at around 2 mil, and the plushie was around there in price, too. The premium items were similarly devalued. I am smarting a LOT over that negg charm, as I had an extra I was hanging on to sell whenever the Skarl charm is finally fixed - it was one of the few album extras that I had that I didn't sell off last summer. Now I really wish I had, but...hindsight is 20/20. So...technically I had 2 of those that were worth 18 mil and now can be snagged in the shops when you catch them. Being realistic, the value on all of these that plummeted will likely never recover, especially not the plushie. This is yet another thing where I have seriously mixed feelings about how TNT is handling things. Seriously mixed feelings. And I'm even more grumpy that they half-destroyed my favorite event of the year in doing so.

Choosing papercraft for the book... But got the Portable Photo Printer instead. That would be handy.

Both yesterday and today, I got spoiled finding the neggs before visiting the festival page because they were on timed "dailies" pages, which I always do first. I think I would have figured out the clues, though. I feel like the clues are better quality this year than in past years -- specific enough, but not completely giving it away.

Do you think this is going to end up like the Hanso thing where we have to guess whodunnit? I've not really been looking for clues...
