Maybe you do have to have exactly 100 (either read or unread) neomails. But, if they keep recommending you clear your neomails, then why are they encouraging people to do this...if a lot of people try this, the servers really might crash!

The lag is so overwhelming, I can't even get the av. All I get is "Cannot Find Server."

I don't know, I've been lurking the neoboards, and the people with the av are saying it's for having 100+ neomails in you inbox. No one's said if their status matters (read or unread), but we all know how reliable info off the boards is...

I heard that you have to have an account at http://webmail.neopets.com which you have to pay for. But I don't know if this is true or not.

What I heard from the neoboards is that you could get it from having 100 neomails, but snarkie said they changed it becasue it was slowing the site down way to much, and from what i here you now have to signup for webmail... alothough it's not letting anyone sign up. Is anyone here an alphatester for the toolbar? do you have the option to sign up? It's hard to tell if it's a lie or not...

Well I found (lurking on the neoboards) the link to signup for the webmail, but it asks for a credit card. There's a thiry day trial, but i'm not giving them my card number just to see if i can get an av like that. It's not that great. I thought the webmail was going to be free like neopets. I guess not.

Ugh, I agree. The reason I didn't mind neopets doing the crazy plushie production and sponsor games is because it kept the site free. It seems like more and more things are starting to go the other direction.

With so many free webmail services available, I don't see why anyone would pay for it, now that I think about it. It's just a run of the mill mail service with neopets stickers slapped on it. Why would anyone pay for that? Seriously.

Oh, and premium.neopets.com/alphausers.aspx is the link, if anyone is interested. It just doesn't seem worth it to me.

It's a cute av, but now I'm still kind of mad that the neopets webmail service isn't free. Ah well, I'll just let it go. The sites still free, good enough for me. Really, I think they should ditch the entire portal/webmail thing anyway.
