I have no idea, to be honest. If you missed it, meaning you for whatever reason didn't log in yesterday, then technically I guess you could say you participated in it.

I highly doubt that anything really happened or was noticed or whatever. Just my opinion.

If people want to affect any change anywhere (not just Neopets), one of the best ways to do that is to sit down and write a clear, complete (with examples/suggestions if possible) snail mail letter and send it to everyone you can think of at that company. If you're polite, use good grammar and spell check, you will be taken at least a bit more seriously. And of course, it is good to write what is positive, what you really like about the place/site, etc.

I have written letters to different companies regarding different issues or problems I have had, or a level of disatisfaction with an item or product, and do include that I have used said item/product for (however long), what I liked about it, what the problem is with it now, and ask/suggest if such and such could be implemented so that whatever the problem is does not continue. I have always received a nice, polite response to those types of letters. Doesn't mean that anything has actually changed, as I am only one person writing. But if many people write regarding the same issue/problem, there is a chance that something positive will be done.

That said, and so I'm not labelled a chronic complainer ;) , I do also write letters when something very nice happens, if I get service above and beyond what I expected, etc. It's nice for companies to get praise and for the people responsible for the good service to get recognition (yes, I've worked in customer service).

The Day of Action is a day that over one hundred users participated in. This was a simple protest against all the unfair warnings, freezings, etc. This was celebrated by many Neopets users by not logging in at all yesterday.

I thought they cancelled half price day.. it said it somewhere on their calender: "Cancelled due to lack of interest"

Oh, and as far as the Day of Action goes, I don't think it did as well as the people who participated expected. It's not really easy to get everyone to boycott Neopets for that one day. I agree with the person who suggested snail mail. Not to mention the fact that not every site had anything on the Day of Action.

Yes, I'm aware that it should say Advance, not Color, but I didn't have a font close enough to Advance

I am 100% they had half price day. Everything I saw was half price (Chokato Jubjub Muffin and overpriced battle/defense magic.)

This half price day happened because all R90+ plushies were 2,5k instead of 5k... but in fact, it seemed like a normal day... cool. 8)

It probably didn't make a bit of difference, but, then if we hadn't tried how would we know?

Amazing what one can come up with when one is given a cardboard box and a roll of duct-tape!

I did it--and instead of logging in, I wrote Neopets a sincere letter regarding how much I liked the game and wanted it to continue, but how I disliked their customer service policy, failure to compensate for lost item glitches, failure to warn in advance of site maintenance and lack of employees.

I also spent my time surfing the web where I found all sorts of recent news articles which blasted Neopets for its "immersive advertising." Seems Ralph Nader doesn't like it, a major Californina newspaper doesn't like it, the World Health Organization doesn't like it, and there may be government regulation of it really soon.

I had also planned to write some of the sponsors and some of those news reporters about the glitches and poor service, but I figured that I would first give Neopets a chance to respond to me, before I went to them.

I know that it might not have made a huge difference, but, hey, Rome wasn't built in a day. And it felt good--rather than sitting on my duff waiting for another glitch to come along, I took a stand for something that I believe in.

the day of action didn't work; this i suspect even the participants already knew b4 they go ahead. the main reason been that a day of not playing, even if all of the players take part in it, would just affect the page count rate. it's like the site been taken down a whole day. however, neopets attracts sponsors mainly with the impressive 70+m players stats. even if you self freeze in protest, you are still part of the 70+m. however, futile as it is, at least TNT are aware of the stand these players are taking, like...not buying their merchandise for example.

Morningstar, as usual I agree with you.

As I posted above, yes I am a letter writer, both bad and good. I have written one letter to Neopets and I plan to write another, given the response I received.

The player stats are probably quite impressive to sponsors, even those who were reluctant to make a statment in the magazine article (which really confuses me - why be a big sponsor on a big site and not want to talk about it?). I think the way the games load now have been changed so that, especially in case of sponsor games, tracking to deliver numbers to the sponsors is meant to impress them. If you haven't looked lately, when you click to play a game, as it's loading look at the address bar. It always had the game, the username, email and alot of other numbers. Now it has the game name, the date of birth, along with the other information. Must be a tracking/demographic thing. That was just pointed out to me last night.

So no, the DoA I'm sure did not work, not in the way the original statement was intended. And I agree with you that everyone probably knew this wouldn't work, not in any real substantial way. But it did get some people thinking, and perhaps some people writing a letter. That makes it at least a partial success.

Yes, this is a game and yes it is a "free" game. It is also a business. And as other people have pointed out in some ways this game is almost a microcosm of real life. You learn things - making "money", you buy, sell, auction, trade, care for pets, learn to save, budget, play the stock market, etc. So if you are not happy with aspects of this game and try to do something about it, then you are learning something else - taking action, standing up for yourself and at least trying to be part of a solution and not part of a problem.
