Old-Timey Cartoons!

I got this "Gulliver's Travels" movie, it's this really old Disney that never got famous, and it's ROTOSCOPED! *shudders* But that's not the point. At the end is a feature about the making of cartoons before computers. It's completely AWESOME, and features a few seconds of a few old shorts - one of which I have! Felix, Popeye, the really old Mickey Mouse cartoons, sometimes Casper, and that old Greedy Humpty Dumpty cartoon I have all count, among others.

Old-timey cartoons have this certain... something. The rubber-hose arms and legs, the exaggerated movements, the white-sound when nothing happens, the corny music... I LOVE them. I should totally ask for a bunch of Felix for my birthday.

Anyone else feel similarly? Differently?

Very much so. It seems the further back the shows are, the better the quality. I even have a very old Woody Woodpecker cartoon that had to be played in a projector slide... well, I used to at least, don't know where it is at the moment. Great, now I've got an overflow of nostalgia, excuse me for a second.

I used to love watching the old Bugs Bunny and Road Runner. I even have Tom and Jerry on DVD. They do have a certain "charm" about them, I think its the repeat scrolling backgrounds and the hazy texture.

I love those old cartoons. I have a tape somewhere with the "old" version of Porky Pig and the other characters. I adored all those old cartoons, I still do.

I used to have this tape of black and white Betty Boop cartoons. I love Betty Boop. But then I let my niece borrow it and I never saw it again

Family Ness back in the 80s was fairly glorious.
And The Moomins in the early 90s.

I got "The Adventures of Rock & Bullwinkle: The First Season" on DVD. That's old-school right there. Another good cartoon was...oh...what was it called? Some British detective with a dog. Rin-somethin'-somethin'?

I don't think that really counts in what I'm referring to as old-timey cartoons, but I've watched one, and read the comics of... literally ALL the others. They go so well from comic to movie, it's scary. Plus, I love the music. *hums Tintin theme*

Yeah, that's what I think Kevco's talking about, too. Rin-Tin-Tin = very similar to Tin Tin. The dog is Snowy, and he oughta have his own series. He's like Sam, saves everyone's lives and gets no credit.

Ah, that was it. And it was good. I assume you (Eo) are referring to Samwise Gamgie from LoTL. And Mickey Mouse. The good-old Walt stuff. Though Mickey's "newer" iterations are much more popular than what's being said about "other cartoons *look's in the Warner Bros. direction*

I always liked the 1st X-men show but now they have X-men evolution.

All of the old Mickey shorts are fantastic, especially Steamboat Willie and Through The Looking-Glass; in fact, Mickey Mouse is one of the only living things that I would willingly hug (if I ever visited Orlando)

Felix and the early Woody Woodpecker were top-notch too, I still have my old Felix alarm-clock ^.^
