Oscars 2005

Mon Feb 28, 2005 2:10 am

Surprised no one has a made a topic on it yet. So I guess I will.

Chris Rock is quite funny. Best joke so far was when he said the black version of the "Incredibles" will be called "Aight". Haha.

Beyonce's preformance was amazing. It is hard to sing in French. I think she's singing more after also. I hope Jamie Fox sings something. I'm not sure, but "Ray" is probably nominated for best music too.

My predictions:

Best Actress: Hilary Swank
Best Actor: Jamie Fox
Best Supporting Actress: Cate Blanchett

And of course, Morgan Freeman already one Best Supporting Actor.

I have no idea who will win Best Picture. They are all really good.

Chris Rock and Robin Williams cracked me up XD I'm so happy Incredibles won best animated picture :D They definitely deserved it.

Oh yeah! Robin Williams was quite hilarious.

Just checked, and Ray isn't nominated for best Original Song. I guess they aren't really original songs in that movie. Shame, I would have loved to hear Jamie Fox sing again.

Cate Blanchett won for Best Supporting. Whoo.

EDIT: Oh man... Chris Rock and Adam Sandler's little thing was just HILARIOUS!

Really? I was kind of disappointed in Chris Rock. I've heard him be funnier, but maybe I'm just not in a laughing mood. Tonight the Oscars aren't as great as past ones, maybe becasue I haven't seen half of these films. Oh well, I'm still watching it, can't seem to help it.

I'm so glad Morgan won. It's about time. and his speech was the best. Short and elegant. :)

For us Aussies, it's on tonight, so thank you for the spoilers about Blanchett!

*goes to collect her $150 bet from her Mother*

Eee... Sorry I didn't even think about it being on at different times.

Anyway, Best Actress was Hilary Swank. Looks like I'm 2 for 2 so far. I hope Jamie Fox wins!

EDIT: And he did. Awesome.

I am at a loss for Best Picture... They all have equal chances...

Yup (I guess that means you're 3 for 3?)! Even though I haven't seen the movie, all the reviews and critics said he did an awesome job of portraying Ray Charles.

Nuu, my three awards that i wanted the aviator to win didn't which included: Best Actor, Best Director, and Best Film.
Sad is me.
Also enjoyed Beyonce and Josh Groban with Believe, it was greato, and the first song beyonce sang was done greatly as well.

my boys, counting crows, disappointed me with their terrible performance. then again, it was a terrible song.

only category i cared about was animation, and the incredibles rightly won. i didn't see any of the movies up for the major awards.

chris rock cracked my smurf up. that monologue at the beginning was amazing. so salty!

Chris Rock is the BEST!!! I love his jokes they make me laugh all the time :roflol: . The Oscers this year wasn't as great as the years before :(

Mon Feb 28, 2005 8:43 pm

This year was one of the worst for movies, in my opinion....

That didn't make for too great of an oscar night for me.

Sideways for Best Adapted Screenplay (or whatever they call it these days). Pleased with that.

Oh, you guys have no idea how happy I was to see him finally win.

I was talking to my mom on the phone when it was on, and she was watching it at her house too. When we saw that Morgan won, we both started screaming "Ahhh!!! He won!!! He won!!!"

My mom was also rooting for Jamie Foxx to win for Ray, so she got her wish. But I was really surprised that Million Dollar Baby won for Best Picture. I was kinda thinking that The Aviator would win because it was nominated for so many total. But I'm glad Million Dollar Baby won (although I was secretly wishing for Finding Neverland, and I'm still wondering why Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind wasn't nominated for best picture)

Another disappointment for me: I wish Natalie Portman would've won for best supporting actress.

But all together, I liked how they did the show this year. I mean how they did the nominations. A couple had the nominees on stage, some were given out in the audience, and some the traditional way. I liked how they mixed it up. And I admit, I had my doubts about Chris Rock hosting, but he seemed to do ok.

I never even heard of Million Dollar Baby until the Oscars.
