The big screen and the small screen... together at last! Hurrah!

Specifically, Jobs has said the company would not participate in sequels to "Monsters Inc.," "Finding Nemo," and "The Incredibles," as well as "Toy Story 3," all of which Disney plans to make.
Eisner called Pixar's human animation "pathetic," to which Jobs retorted, "I know our films don't stack up against films like 'Atlantis' or 'Emperor's New Groove,' or 'Treasure Planet.' We just kind of wrote that off to Michael being a loose canon."
First of all, Eisner is the pathetic one. I believe he's responsible for the latest crap sequels to our Disney classics. Now he's going to take on sequels to our beloved Pixar movies!
At least "A Bug's Life" is safe...
Or is it?

*War Cry*
Grrr....
Me likes pixar. ^_^
Wait... So Disney is doing sequels to these.... without Pixar.
We are doomed. Seriously.

Eisner is a censored as it is, don't be surprised. I'm glad to see Pixar go it on there own, Disney helped them get off the ground and become a household name but now Pixar no longer needs them.
I laughed at what Eisner says, he's probably just censored that he won't be getting anymore millions of dollars they've been leeching off Pixar from for the past seven years. Steve Jobs hates Eisner and for good reasons, Eisner can't run a company for crap anyway, Disney is doomed, like I care though.
JimEdit: Watch your language. You should know better by now.

I'm tired of this Disney is doomed stuff.
It's not doomed.
It's pulling in millions of dollars through the parks, and merchandising. Not to mention what it makes from movies. It has profited from every cartoon movie it's made in the past 20 years.
Eisner may be bad for the company, i'll grant you that, but Eisner won't be there forever. People realise whats going on at Disney. It's OBVIOUS about whats going on at Disney. People won't stand for it once Eisners gone, and i'm pretty sure reforms will be made.
I wouldn't be calling it's doom yet.
Not to mention that it's gone through lulls before with the movie qualities.
Thats no new news for Disney.
Do you have any idea how hard it is to make continual hits? What the Disney company has done is amazing, let them lull for now, it'll pick back up.

I'm not saying Disney has never done anythign good, or that its doomed for all eternity, I loved Disney back in its glory days and would love nothing more then for them to make a comeback. But they've gone out there way at time to hurt themselves, like making sequals to every damn animated film they ever made, that's just sad and cheapens the whole franchise. And lulling is nota good thing, as a studio you should try hard on every project I don't think any movie company should throw out 'filler' movies or movies they know arn't that great, it just shows laziness on the studios part.

I don't know. Iger is basically Eisner's puppet and is no better than he is. Both are lousy, money grubbing sons-of-monkies. Basically, Iger is Eisner's protege, mini-Eisner if you will. He made it
very hard for the board to consider anyone else, especially someone like Meg Whitman. "A woman run Disney? That's crazy! What's her credentials? She was CEO of some little internet selling company... EBay. pffft, whatever happened to that."

Pixar's human animations are "pathetic"? Wow..... what a sore loser that guy is for saying something like that.
I hope Pixar makes a ton of great films that's going to make them billions just so they can rub it all up in his face.
Goooo Pixar!! WOOO!
I wouldn't have minded seeing a sequal of The Incredibles though... but since Pixar isn't going to be doing it...... gets me a bit worried.

I know nothing about the inner-politics of the Disney Co. and won't pretend I do, but I'm rather shocked that Eisner would say something so degrading and patently untrue about a former business partner. It's pretty childish. =\
As for whether or not Disney is doomed, don't make me laugh. Even if they never make another animated movie, EVER, they're not doomed.
Fri Mar 18, 2005 4:12 pm
I don't really like Pixar, but I don't really like recent Disney movies either. For the love of god, go back to making good movies, ones that have the quality of Beauty and the Beast, or Snow White, or Alice in Wonderland. -___-
Fri Mar 18, 2005 4:15 pm
Disney also owns ABC, it's such a mega corperation, I doubt it will be going down anytime soon. Even if this Eisner fellow is a jerk.
Fri Mar 18, 2005 6:57 pm
I too won't pretend to know about Disney politics, all I know is that every sequel they have made to a classic movie is just horrible. They should focus on making really good original pieces, not trying to cash in on the fame of others (sad thing is they actually are cashing in...).
Fri Mar 18, 2005 9:49 pm
It is Eisner's fault. He has been bad for a long time and continues to get worse. The most pathetic thing was when Disney made Brother Bear. That was one of the worst movies I have ever seen. Pixar comes up with new and fresh ideas. It seems like Disney does nothing. The Bugs Life was the worst Pixar film anyway so I don't want a sequel. Cars looks to be a bust but it looks good to.
I think though in the end Pixar will continue to make good movies but not with Disney. Sometimes I prefer it, and Ammer they wanted to make Toy Story 3 a long time ago but Pixar said no way a REALL long time ago.
Sat Mar 19, 2005 12:46 am
I don't care. Disney doesn't make the movies, they just help market them. Pixar makes them. Disney just pays them. Pixar will find a new company to work for right away, like Dreamworks or something, since all their movies (Pixar's) have been big box-office hits. *shrugs* Disney's loss.
Sat Mar 19, 2005 2:38 am
Wait, disney gets the moive rights even though it was Pixar's story, Pixar's animations, pixar's everything but the money?

. Its good that Pixar has gotten the diseny blight off their name, but I dont see why disney gets to totally mess up some of the best animated moives every made. I mean what was the last accually good animated flim that disney put out? My point exactly. Disney has lost their animation touch to compains like dreamworks and pixar. if they attempt to ruin those movies by making sequals to them-i'll probably never buy a disney product again.
er Mermaid Hill... from what I understand pixar plans to make the movies on their own now
Sat Mar 19, 2005 3:00 am
Disney owned Pixar. Therefore, Disney gets the rights to all sequels to movies made as a collaboration between Disney and Pixar.
Pixar is it's own company now. I don't think it will become a part of any other company because they intend to make money on their own. (A pretty big reason they broke off from Disney.)
And whether or not a few people never buy merchandise from then again because of crappy sequels that may or may not come out, I don't think the money Disney will lose will even be that noticeable.
"While it has taken three years to reach this point, our efforts to remove Michael Eisner as CEO of the Walt Disney Company have finally succeeded. Even the Disney Board, which has proven unresponsive to its shareholders, recognized that it had to take this action after our campaign which resulted in a resounding 45% No Confidence Vote on Michael Eisner last year."
Unfortunately, our concerns regarding this Board's process to replace Mr. Eisner were well-founded. We find it incomprehensible that the Board of Directors of Disney failed to find a single external candidate interested in the job and thus handed Bob Iger the job by default. We find it very telling that Mr. Mitchell refused to answer repeated questions about whether the entire Board had interviewed more than one external candidate. The Board has failed in what is clearly one of their most important responsibilities, the selection of the Company's CEO.
The need for the Walt Disney Company to have a clean break from the prior regime and to change the leadership culture has been glaringly obvious to everyone except this Board. The scathing portrait painted by James Stewart in DisneyWar has been widely reported without serious challenge or contradiction. A Board that is so deaf and insular cannot be entrusted to provide independent stewardship to this valuable, unique institution.
The selection of Bob Iger is yet another example of this Board's breach of faith. The pledge made by Chairman Mitchell to conduct a bona fide search was a ruse to avoid a contest at the 2005 annual meeting. Mr. Mitchell's approach to good governance is no better than a carny at the fair, enticing words but in the end the game is rigged. Disney Shareholders have been conned and their trust in this Board abused.
That above is from toonamiinfolink.com. La de da de da. Goodbye Eisner. Welcome Iger.
