Canadian Idol

Thu Jun 02, 2005 2:32 am

Oh c'mon, you knew it was coming.

Considering I managed to sit through a season of American Idol, why not try it's northern copy? Anywho, I watched the first three episodes and I really hate the judges. They laugh all the time. Even at good people! And that one judge (Zach I think) tries to copy Simon all the time. I understand you can be mean, but he seems to want to be the Canadian version of Simon.

And did anyone notice a lot of good singers were turned away?

I live in the U.S., but have watched the first three episodes. I can't stand the judges. Zach gets on my nerves. The other three are just annoying. Though there is some very good talent that got through (Casey LeBlanc! <3 ), I was also surprised by the amount of talent that was turned away and the people with less talent who were let through. Eh. At least it's something to watch until AI returns. :)

Ah, it comes in the US too? Didn't think it would.

Some people were turned away because of one bad note, and I felt that they let one girl in because she had a disability. Even though I thought she had a wonderful voice, many other people with more talent than her were rejected.

Doesn't come in the US. At least not that I know of. Hooray for the internet. :D

When I decide to audition for one of these idol shows, I'm moving to America.

Just try out for Canadian Idol. Kalan Porter is pretty popular now, I even like his songs ("Single" and "In Spite Of It All").

I know, that was actually I think the second Canadian to win the Miss Universe pageant. And she is a Toronto native.

Go Canada!

I just got my mom and I to vote for Ashley Leitao....
My Mom voted 71 times.
I don't know how many times I voted, but I voted ALOT!
I was surprised to get through, nevermind over 100+ times total.

Was she the schmuck that sand Colours of the wind?

My sister wanted me to watch, I lasted a grand total of 4 singers. Luckily I saw this one and decided to dislike her a lot.

#1) -10 points for wearing jeans under a dress. Worst fashion ailment EVER.

#2) -5 points for excessive sparkle make-up. Ok. You glitter. We get it.

#3) -35 points for choosing a song from Pocahotas: THE WORST DISNEY MOVIE! After the magic of Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin, and The Lion King, nothing could possibly ruin the streak, except for THAT. The preachiest, crappiest waste of animation ever. Also no talking animal side kicks. Boo-erns.

#4) -15 points for the emotional chest thumping when she hit the line about "whether we are white or copper skinned." What, suddenly she decides to make a statement? "Holy Crap!!! She's a minority!!! Where did that come from?"

In total 65 points of total sappy, corporate friendly, sappy lame-itude.

Awww... I love Ashley. :)

I think she's better than the rest of the first group put together. Though my favorites remain Suzi Rawn and Casey LeBlanc. I can't wait till they perform. :D

EDIT: Come to think of it, I did like Daryl as well. That last note at the end... whew. Luff it.

ASHLEY GOT INTO THE TOP 10!
This night was so made for me.
She got in the top 10, there was a preview for Hilary Duff's new movie, and Instant Star was on tonight.

Does anyone else think that the 16 year old guy always looks scared? I swear, I thought he was going to die of stage frieght.

Woohoo! Daryl, Daryl, Daryl! GO YOU!

This sounds like a lie, and if I was you guys I would think it was a lie, but this is the truth. He's my friend (kind of)! He goes to my cousins school, and when I went to visit her I met him and we hung around at break together! No clue what happened, didn't bother watching. Not my kind of thing, but I feel a slight bias here.

When he was sitting on the stool, he looked nervous but scared. I mean, I understand the nervous part but he just looked afraid. I don't know how, he just did. I mean, it was as if someone was pointing a gun at him in the audience.
