Song errors, have you made any?

Sat Jun 04, 2005 9:42 pm

Have you ever sang words to a song only to realise you were wrong in the first place? I know I have. I don't look at lyrics that much therefore, I do somehow mistake the words to some songs. Some songs which I have made errors to are the following,

"Oh" - Ciara

Real Version: Ciara got the fire like.
My Version: Arab got the diet like.

Yes, I know they're very different but after singing that for about a month, I checked out the lyrics and was suprised.

"Missing" - Evanescence

Real Version: Even though I'm the sacrifice.
My Version: Even thought I'd be sacrificed.

Close, but no cigar.

"Take Me Away" - Fefe Dobson

Real Version: And now, I'm staring in your eyes ocean blue.
My Version: And now, I'm staring in your eyes of shea flour.

Originally, I looked up the lyrics and my version was listed. So I kept singing it that way until I got the CD and realised I was wrong. The lyric site corrected itself soon after.

Post your song errors!

I'm sorry, but I find that absolutely hilarious. Priceless.

A group of kids made that mistake too. Maybe it's something about being young and listening to the Newsboys.

Or it might just be that their lyrics can be hard to hear sometimes. ^_- I know that I have had issues understanding some of the lyrics of most of their songs on the hits cd I have of theirs. At one point I thought they were singing about razors on their tongues, not praises. Took me a year to figure that one out (no lyrics in the cd booklet, unforunately).

**screams** AHHH! NOT SHINE!
That song haunts me!
It'd haunt you too if you were stuck in a van, on a four hour drive, with some kid listening to that song on repeat, and you could hear it leaking from his headphones.

Anyway...
I usually don't have that problem with songs, because it's a great pet peeve of mine when people get lyrics wrong. So when I like a song, I make an effort to find out the exact lyrics.
It's hard though, lyrics sites are often wrong, and because they all copy off of eachother, if one is wrong, then several more will be too.
Official artist sites are good for lyrics, as well as serious fan sites. AZLyrics.com is really good for having correct lyrics.

Well, lots of what I listen to is Japanese, and I normally just sing what it sounds like until I find lyrics...I've messed up English a couple times, though, because of wierd accents.

Northern Lights - Megumi Hayashibara
Actual: I live with facing my destiny
Me: Are you worth facing my destiny?

Not major, but quite a difference there :p Stupid Japanese accents....sure, they can sing the letter 'L' just FINE when they're doing in place of the 'R's' and screwing me up THAT way....

I do this sometimes, but it's just me saying a certain line of lyrics early or thinking the actual current line on the song is the one I'm singing, so I usually catch it. :P

Isn't it Hollaback Girl? I like that song.

Same with the Oh.

Sylvias mother:
Real: Cause, Sylvie, its startin' to rain.
Mine: Cause Sylvia's startin' to rain.

I thought it meant she was crying. I always ask my my mom when I don't understand lyrics, so I didn't sing that for long.

I also found another error the other day, it's for the new Black Eyed Peas song called "Don't Phunk With My Heart"

Real Version: I'll be Bobby and you'll play Whitney.
My Version: I'll be Barbie and you'll play Whitney.

I was actually thinking, why would he want to act like Barbie?
