Hotel Rwanda

Mon Jun 06, 2005 1:17 am

I just rented this and saw it.

I cried for the first time in about a year.

Yeah.

._. Have any of you seen it? What did you think of it?

I've never even heard of it to be honest. X__X I did a google search and I don't recongnize it. But all the reviews say it was great. Hmmm... *adds to list of sad movies to watch and cry to*

I watched it quite a bit back, and I thought it was an amazing movie. If there was some kind of mandatory movie watching list, I'd put Hotel Rwanda on it for sure. And the awful fact is that a similar situation is happening in Sudan today, and no one is really helping.

Anyway, I highly recommend it.

I would maybe watch it if not for the swearing, which to me is the ruin to a good sounding movie.

I'm sure there was swearing, but to tell you the truth- I don't remember it at all. The mature parts I can think of would be all the killing that happens.

But- obviously such a dark and awful event probably wouldn't be made well at all in a movie, if there were no "mature" things in it.

The one cameraman probably curses the most of them all, and that's two strong ones, I believe.

Ah, yes. Like I said, it was a while ago that I watched it. Obviously it's not the thing you remember, and it's a minor thing compared to the message of the movie. It is a violent movie, and you should not watch it if you don't want to see things like that.

After having to write a term paper about this movie for my film class last semester, I fell in love with it. I'm going to buy it, because it's such a good film. The acting...is completely magnificant.

...it's not like it's particularly gratuitious, or something they just threw in there to titillate. In that kind of situation, I'd think that some degree of invective would be almost inevitable.

That being said, I'd definitely like to see it, but I don't have time, and I never seem to get around to renting movies until years after they come out.

It's on my list.

My list is huge. Sigh.

We watched it in History last week...I would have cried if I weren't in public

Great film. Not oversensationalized at all.

This was an oustanding movie. I thought they didn't make em like this anymore, and I'm glad I was wrong!

I know, just saying.. I could tolerate it if it was only mild, but as said it's not. Tis' all.

I think that's a very blinkered way to look at a film, Medli, and in the future you'll remain blinkered if you refuse to watch something because of swearing.

Then I am this blinkered thing and proud. :D
