Gilbert And Sullivan Plays/Musicals/Operettas

Mon Aug 01, 2005 10:07 pm

Well, my obsession with POTO has led me to seek out music from various operas - mainly Robert Le Diable and Gounod's Faust. I have no idea what Polyucette is about, and I have yet to find anything but pictures from Roi De Lahore. In fact, I've had terrible luck with everything except some old obsessions of mine - Gilbert and Sullivan! (They were mentioned in a favourite fanfic of mine, I think. Go figure.)

Has anyone seen or heard music from any of their operas? I've seen The Mikado twice as a stage production, and Pirates Of Penzance about five times when I was a kid- the movie, that is. HMS Pinnafore is of course most famous, and I plan to view the Web Opera of it soon...

Ah! Eo is branching out! Huzzah!

Allow me to embarrass her and say: She used to pronounce Roi de Lahore as "Roy day LaHoareh."

I keep working on a filk to Lord High Executioner called Hogwarts High Inquisitor, and then I forget it again. Bah.
