Anime Versus (Week 5)

Wed Nov 23, 2005 11:29 pm

Greetings, and welcome to Anime Versus. Like it's predecessors, Anime Versus will pit two competitors against each other each week, to see which one PPTers prefer. To vote, please select the anime you like best from the poll at the top of this topic, then feel free to discuss your choice below. The winner of the week will move onto the next round, and will face a new challenger anime. Should an anime win for six weeks straight, it will be removed from the competition and placed into the Anime Hall of Fame.

Last week, Fullmetal Alchemist defeated Ayashi no Ceres by nine votes. This week it will face a new anime.

Series Information:

Fullmetal Alchemist (a.k.a Hagane no Renkinjutsushi) is an adventure drama produced by Bones, Aniplex, Square-Enix and Mainichi Broadcasting. Its 51 episodes ran from October 2003 to October 2004.* It is also currently being run as a part of Cartoon Network's Adult Swim line-up in the United States.

Full Metal Alchemist is the story of two brothers who are gifted alchemists. When their mother dies, they decide to use their powers to restore her to life, violating the taboo against human transmutation. They pay a terrible price for their mistake. Edward, the elder brother, is left with a mechanical arm and leg, while Alphonse, the younger of the two, finds his soul bound to an empty suit of armor. The story follows their quest for the Philosohper's Stone, a legendary material with the power to restore their bodies.***

Bleach is an adventure drama produced by Dentsu Inc. and Studio Pierrot. It's Japanese run began 10/5/04, and there are at least 59 episodes at this time.**

Kurosaki Ichigo is a unique 15-year-old. Unlike most other boys his age, he has the ability to see spirits and ghosts. This ability leads him to an adventure when he meets Kuchiki Rukia, a God of Death who is hunting for a Hollow (evil spirit). During the battle between Rukia and the Hollow, however, Rukia transfers her powers into Ichigo. With this transferral a partnership begins as they set out to hunt the Hollows, as well as confront other spiritual beings.

Ooh.. FMA...

I don't know about Bleach at all, but its description sounded interesting.

But I'm still voting for FMA. :]

Oh, btw, may I suggest Death Note, Hikaru no Go and Rurouni Kenshin as future competitors? ^^;

Or does it have to be anime? Because Death Note is still a manga right now ^^;

It's anime-only. But if Death Note gets animated, let me know again, and I'll add it to my list.

I'll add Hikaru no Go to my big list, and Kenshin is already on there. Thanks for the suggestions.

Hmm, tough one, I love Bleach, eventhough it went a little downhill around episode 40, and I've heard good things about FMA, *ponders*
