Brokeback Mountain

Thu Nov 24, 2005 7:47 am

comes out december 9th, has anyone seen a trailer for this? it looks really interesting.

it's the first movie as it's kind, mainly because they cast known actors as the leads(who are homosexual).

i'm excited about it, but im not too sure. i like how the preview put more of a focus on the effects it has than the actual acts.

Actually, I saw the trailer while browsing Quicktime and it looks pretty good. The lead actors themselves aren't homosexuals, but the film is about two cowboys who spend time fishing and what not in the mountains. Than they are split up (One moves away) and when he comes back, he finds out his "friend" has a family with two daughter as well as he does (He has a family with one son and his wife is Anne Hathway from The Princess Diaries). I believe that is what the movie is about and basically, it looks really good. I believe I smell an oscar.

It does look good but it's definitely not the first movie of it's kind.... Lots of well known actors have played homosexuals like Keanu Reeves, Robin Williams, Antonio Sabato Jr., Tom Hanks, Antonio Banderas, Gael garcia Bernal, Kevin Kline and lots others.

My cousin and I want to go see it when it comes out. :)

I'd like to see it, although I'll probably just wait and rent it. I can't afford cinema prices all that well, and since it's not a big special effects film, there doesn't seem to be too much of a reason to see it on the big screen.

True, but has their been a movie like this?

Anycase...looks and sounds good, but me being me, I'd never be caught dead in watching a movie about two gay guys in a movie theater, given I am one...I know, you don't understand, me either :roflol:

It honestly looks more like a "Wait for DVD" type movie but since it is a Hollywood gay film (only about 10 percent of gay oriented films are from Hollywood while 90 percent are independent low budget films) I will go see it on the big screen to kinda show my respect for them having the guts to make it and show it in a town the size I live in.

Gah, I want to see it so badly, since I read the book. But the only way I could go is if a friend offered to take me to see it. Mom and Dad wouldn't be too happy if they found out I was going. :(

When I first heard about that movie, there were about 20 rude jokes going through my head. I don't remember most of them now, but that was one of them. Also something about "rhinestone cowboys".

Has anyone actually seen this film? It's been out for weeks and the only theatre that's playing it and still considered in my general area is still too far (some artsy theatre in Seattle).

Well if that isn't something to be proud of, I don't know what is!
