PPT's Top 100 Songs Countdown: December

Sun Dec 11, 2005 1:06 am

I remember someone had something like this a year or so ago? Possibly more, possibly less. But I liked the idea, and I'd like to revive it. So here's the deal:

We all have our favorite songs, right? Why not see how they rank up with other PPTers? Enter: PPT's Top 100 Songs Countdown.

Procedure

This is a two week process. In week one, you nominate any and all songs you think are absolutely fabulous. You can nominate as many as you want, from any genre, and from any year. If your favorite song is from the 1950s, it's as welcome as any song from 2005. At the end of week one, all of the nominated songs are listed in a big post. The nomination period ends and week two begins. This is where the voting begins. You PM me your five favorite songs from the list. At the end of the two week process, the votes are tallied and your top 100 countdown for the month is revealed. When all is over with, everything is wiped clean and the process begins again the next month. If a song remains in the number one slot for five consecutive rounds or more, it is entered into the hall of fame and unable to be nominated or voted upon again.

Status:

December Week One: Nominations
Beginning: Sunday, December 11, 2005
Ending: Sunday, December 18, 2005

[This particular round is getting an early start of a few hours, but the official start and end date of the rounds will be Sundays.]

Get nominating!

I did something like this a year or so ago, perhaps you're thinking of that.

As for nominating, do we send you or post our nominations?

I think PMing nominations would be better as then songs that people just see on the thread wouldn't get renominated by everyone. The downside is the lack of PM space, and probably the fact there'll be like two songs with more than one vote :P

Do the songs have to be released singles? Or can I just choose any song?

PM space likely won't be a problem- your inbox can store 250 PMs before reaching 100%, after which it'll delete the oldest PM when receiving a new one. :P

And Dawn did say specifically in her post to PM her the nominations.

Yep, and you can just put them into your savebox. I save all my PMs and my savebox is way above 100%, suprisingly so.

Actually, Bangel said to PM her the Votes in Week 2, so I'm presuming that we nominate songs on this thread and pm her the votes.

Uh huh. That way everyone knows what's already been nominated and doesn't re-nominate it. Votes are the things that are PMed to me. :)

Do the songs have to be released singles? Or can I just choose any song?

If you mean released as in played on the air/on an album/generally played somewhere, then yes, they have to be released. I don't know what your definition of unreleased is, but let's put it this way- if the public has access to hearing it, it can be nominated.

So currently what everyone is doing is nominating songs by posting on the thread and currently that's all you need to worry about. :) Sorry for any confusion.

No, no; I meant released as in released as a single. For instance, could I nominate "Tourniquet" by Evanescence even if it wasn't released as a single?
