[Please LOCK] Anime Versus (Week 8)

Wed Dec 14, 2005 11:33 pm

Greetings, and welcome to Anime Versus. Like it's predecessors, Anime Versus will pit two competitors against each other each week, to see which one PPTers prefer. To vote, please select the anime you like best from the poll at the top of this topic, then feel free to discuss your choice below. The winner of the week will move onto the next round, and will face a new challenger anime. Should an anime win for six weeks straight, it will be removed from the competition and placed into the Anime Hall of Fame.

Last week, Fullmetal Alchemist defeated Prince of Tennis by two votes. This week it will face a new anime.

Series Information:

Fullmetal Alchemist (a.k.a Hagane no Renkinjutsushi) is an adventure drama produced by Bones, Aniplex, Square-Enix and Mainichi Broadcasting. Its 51 episodes ran from October 2003 to October 2004.* It is also currently being run as a part of Cartoon Network's Adult Swim line-up in the United States.

Full Metal Alchemist is the story of two brothers who are gifted alchemists. When their mother dies, they decide to use their powers to restore her to life, violating the taboo against human transmutation. They pay a terrible price for their mistake. Edward, the elder brother, is left with a mechanical arm and leg, while Alphonse, the younger of the two, finds his soul bound to an empty suit of armor. The story follows their quest for the Philosohper's Stone, a legendary material with the power to restore their bodies.***

“And you don’t seem to understand.” The first line of the theme song, Duvet (by Boa), sums up Serial Experiments: Lain. Trying to write a summary paragraph for this show is like trying to describe a piece of Dada art; there are lots of colors, images, noise, and ideas all thrown at you at once. Iwakura Lain was nearly a technophobe before a classmate committed suicide and a mysterious email from the dead girl was received by Lain and other students. Intrigued, Lain logged onto the Wired, searching for an answer to the mystery surrounding the girl’s death, and finding herself questioning everything she thought she ever knew, including her own identity.

Oh no....Auntie Mylene, I thought you liked me! T_T

Urgh...Lain is thought provoking and mysterious, but FMA is violent and fun....They're about the same as far as awesomeness of theme songs goes....Lain has better animation, yet FMA has shiny people....

Although it's not fair to compare them, really. I'll watch Lain if I want to zone out for a while, FMA if I want to be entertained. They're on such different intellectual levels that it's really hard to quantify which one is better and...Oh, I'm just stalling at this point.

-looks around nervously- Ah, um....FMA. -goes off to cuddle what remains of her sanity-

Paku Romi owns my soul! ;;;;

@.@;; ....I vote for FMA.

Lain seems interesting though, but I don't know it. X3 Gah, don't know many. ._.;
