The big screen and the small screen... together at last! Hurrah!

Has anyone seen this movie? What did you think of it? Have you also read the book?
I went to watch the movie with my friends on Friday. I thought it was alright, but it didn't really draw me in. I found some parts (more specifically, the premise for half the movie) to be quite unconvincing. I haven't read the book, so it may have worked well there, but the movie wasn't so great.

I've read the book, and my mom's probably going to make me go see the movie with her. It was okay, not the best story I've ever read, but it was certainly interesting.

I read the book many years ago, and it sparked my interest in the geisha culture, which I've read about and written several research papers for (Liza Dalby is my hero ^_-). With that said, I will not be going to see the movie unless dragged there by a friend, because I feel it perpetuates the misconceptions surrounding what geisha do and do not do.

I watched it, i think the visuals of it all were pretty stunning. I was expecting a part from the trailers to pop up into the movie but they didn't. And the person narrating the story wasn't zhang zi, it was another person so that was akward. I wouldn't say this is the best film i've seen or the worse. I'd give it an okay mark, little above average. yep.

I just recently read the book after seeing the trailer for it. I LOVED the book. It gave me a great image of Geisah life and Japan around WWII. I loved how detailed it got. I can't wait to see the film because the colors were gorgeous and the imagery was very appealing.

The film was beautiful. The story was good; I dunno but man, the visuals were stunning. I had to pee like 45 minutes into the movie and by the end I could barely move because I had to pee so bad, but I couldn't leave the darn theatre! It was just a pretty movie! Visually awesome.
I can't spell their names... but the evil older geisha, the one who started the fire... when she was leaving the house and going down the little road thing and looked back and it was all grey and stuff; it was quite awesome.
Very pretty.
I cringed with the whole kimono destruction thing though.
