Another thing I don't like about the movie is Sirius's head in the fire looking like it is made of coals. I mean, that is not how it is supposed to be. It is supposed to hover in the fire as an image, not be made of coals.

And to me, it sounds like Moody is mumbling. I finally get to hear someone say the words to the killing curse and it sounds like mumbaba mumbvadmumble....

Speak clearly man!

Yes, Dumbledore is pretty darn scared when he sees Harry's name come out of the Goblet. But that is not his manner of showing fear. And why are Beauxbatons and Durmstrang suddenly gender-exclusive schools? And what the heck was going on with Harry falling backwards down a building?? The computer animation is cheesy (and the Tasks seem needlessly drawn out, but I should have taken that for granted.) They're leaving in Rita Skeeter, when she's probably the character most ripe for the cutting after Bagman, meaning they're cutting out more important things.

On the bright side, Brendan Gleeson does a much better Moody, or... a much more passable impersonation of Moody, than I'd thought he would when I saw the photo. Leaves me wondering how he ever managed to be a Confederate soldier with that accent, but whatever.

Yeah I don't remember Harry falling off a building in the book. I don't even remember him dreaming he fell off a building. I know people joke about falling off the astralogy tower a lot though.
And I think Dumbledore shouting "Harry Potter!!" was kind of off too. In the books I imagine him just kind of softly saying "Harry Potter..." you know..like "Hmm..this is interesting..." kind of tone of voice. Not shouting. Maybe I have to go back and reread that part. I don't remember him shouting it though.

That trailer looks awesome, but I agree with what's being said about Dumbledore's reaction to Harry's name. But wasn't he a bit angry in the book? I know he was really shocked.

*bounces* I'm so excited! 2 whole months still though!!! *sigh*

Sirius's head in the fire was not what I expected either... remember when Molly shoves a piece of toast in (crude, who was it?) someone from Arther's office's mouth? How could she have done that if it was fire? o_O

Moody's eye wasn't what I pictured either, I pictured it just like a real eye, just able to spin around. I suppose they couldn't make Moody's real eye do that in the movie lol.

Aren't they like that in the book? I thought they were.

The first thing doesn't bug me as much as it appears to be bugging all of you. This trailer looks awesome and I can't wait to see this movie!

Beauxbatons certainly isn't, but I think maybe Durmstrang is, I can't remember for sure. But it doesn't bother me that the movie made them both gender-exclusive. The story only really focuses on Krum and Fleur anyway.

As for Dumbledore calling Harry's name "fearfully", I really don't think he sounded afraid. To me, he sounded really ticked off. It reminded me of the way my mom used to yell at me by my full name when I did something bad. Like "Harry James Potter!! As if you haven't been in enough trouble in your life, you had to go and trick the cup into letting you in!!! Come here this INSTANT!!!"

Are you kidding? Rita is one of the main sources of conflict in the whole book.

Let's see, conflict with Rita Skeeter... the Dark Mark story and the Mad-Eye Moody story don't need her (and I certainly hope they have the Mad-Eye Moody story and explain it, unlike the Egypt story in the last movie.) Ron and the other Houses are tiffed at Harry before Rita Skeeter does her piece on the Triwizard Tournament. Harry Potter's Secret Heartache is conflict, but minor enough that it doesn't matter - and that'll definitely be in the movie.

Now, what we do need her for is motivating Harry through Hagrid to get on that egg already. Disturbed and Dangerous is essential for the next movie. But that's a drastically reduced role.

Ya know, as much as I love the movies I really must admit that I find it a bit of a drag when people pick them apart because they're not like the books. Of course they're not like the books, they're a movie. Things like the fire/coals/face in the fire will be different then imagined in ones head.
I remember seeing a TV clip of Rowling explaining the brick work to the entrance of Diagon Alley, and she had drawings of it that she had done. Totally different then what i'd thought it would look like. But it was as she'd imagined, and thats how they did it in the movie. So you never know, this could have been her way of doing it as well. I personally have no problem with it.
And yes they're going to have to cut stuff out, they'll always have to cut stuff out, and it sucks. But we can always remember that it has the possibility of being oh so much worse.

I just re-read their entrance, and you are right. I really didn't remember that Beauxbatons had boys. I actually prefer the movie version, with the all-girl studen body (though I guess if I ever went to Wizarding School, I'd go to Beauxbatons instead of Hogwarts... the South of France is nice).

You're not alone! I knew he didn't have a proper body, and I'm like...'So he's coals? Just throw water on him and he's dead!' :P Then I read some posts and realised it was Sirius.

Edit: book six spoilers on smudgeoffudge's post

Well he sort of looks sad in this picture actually. I don't know what Dumbledore was hinting at in the end of the sixth book, but it is almost as if he wants us to pity Voldemort. Or at least understand him. I am of the opinion that Voldemort is sad much of the time, or depressed or something. But JKR has said on numerous occasions that the book isn't going to end with him getting theorpy and that it wouldn't help and that he is pure evil. But then she seems to at least want us to begin to pity him.
He sort of looks like a pitiful old man in this picture to me, not really as scary as I would like.

*has star wars:return of the jedi flashbacks*
oh please no

and they still consider Vadar the ultimate bad guy.
yeah. the repentent father of the hero, yeah real evil, making nice like that *shivers*
