We didn't get to go! It snowed a lot. We're all going next week and everyone's out of their MINDS with excitement.

Sorry to bring up this old-ish topic...
Pan's Labryinth is finally getting shown here, starting tomorrow! I'm so excited to go see it. One slight hitch, though, is that my "little" sister (she's 14) is coming to stay this weekend, and I'd feel bad if she came with us to see it and then was traumatised for life. On the other hand though, it'd be fun to go see a movie with her, and I'm so eager to see this one.
So! For those of you who've seen it, would you take a young-ish teen to go see it?
My sister's seen scarier and more violent movies than I have (The Ring, The Grudge, and possibly Saw), so I think she could cope with it better than me! I mainly want to check that it isn't "adult" kinda violence, if you get what I mean ...
Edit: I just read whhattisthiss's comment about comparing it to Saw :-S Hmm...

I went to go see it, finally, and I absolutely loved it. It was brilliant.
As for bringing a younger-ish teen? NO. NONONO. I may just be old fashioned, but in the tiny text below there's a list of some things the movie involves:
A man getting his cheek cut open from the inside and then sewing it together himself, torture, someone getting their face beaten in with a glass bottle, etc.
Maybe she can handle that type of stuff, but make sure she can before you cart her off to the theatre.

I went to see it last night - its amazing!! But very weird at the same time. Personally I don't think I would take your sister, while it is a beautiful film its also get horror, violence and gore and to be honest if I'd seen it at 14 I would have been very freaked out.
But then again I've never seen The Ring, The Grunge or Saw so I don't know if the violence/gore/horror is equal to that. :/

My mother and brother went to see it, but I turned them down as I had company and also didn't know that's the movie they chose. >_> The chance of me seeing this now, is very unlikely, until it comes out on DVD and loses much of it's effect... still, I'm going to try to go sometime soon.
My brother said it sort of grossed him out, and my mother is like... squeamish to the max, so she was definitely grossed out, though she fell asleep halfway through. Neither of them liked the subtitles, which I told them wasn't a big deal at all. Is it really that difficult to read lines of dialogue?
From their description, I really want to see it now (though my brother has a bad habit of spoiling the entire thing, and this movie was no exception. >_>)

I didn't mind the subtitles at all, and I really thought I'd get annoyed with them - but I didn't.

Ah, thanks Fidds! That answers my question perfectly. I think she'd probably be able to cope with it better than me, even so... but I decided it's probably selfish of me to ask her to come along (when it's something she may or may not choose to watch, if it was just her decision), when I can just wait a couple more days.

I saw this movie last night after having been DYING to see it and I my expectations were greatly exceeded. It's a wonderful movie for adults. I took my friends, who were leery about seeing a foreign movie that had been subtitled but even they loved it.
I agree it is not for children due to some of the grotesque and violent scenes, it is somewhat of a war movie as much as it is a fantasy movie. But all in all, it was a wonderfully done film.

I absolutely loved it. Seriously, I could go on for ages about it but I won't. It's definitely a must see.
