I agree with those who said the ending was too happy.

We walk out of the theater, Stu goes to me, "What did you think?" "The ending was too happy." "The ending was too happy?!?!" "Yes." "Oh, nevermind their parents died, every guardian that was nice to them died, they don't even deserve a happy ending? It wasn't even that happy!" "Yes, it was." The argument kinda died at this point with my voice. =P

Anyway, it was all right...not wonderful, but all right.

I think Stu won.

Your argument seemed to consist of 'Yes it was'.

Yea, well, I can only say about 5 words at a time before I'm reduced to whispering, so shush. XD

A Series of Unfortunate Events with Jim Carrey- starting with his birth!

Hahahahaha, that's funny

Perhaps a bit harsh.

I'm not saying that the world would be a better place had Jim Carrey never been born.

Oh, actually, I am. Carry on.

I thought it was really great, though my only gripes would have to be Liam Aiken's horrible acting (but good stage presence) and the fact that there was no real cliffhanger... which leads me to believe that there will not, in fact, be a second movie...

Did anyone else who see it notice that there was a lack of other people, like extras? I don't know, it just seemed weird to me that they were the only car on the street or the only people. There were extras in the market scene but I didn't see them anywhere else. Maybe it was an effect Daniel Handler was going after? Anywho, that just stuck out to me.

I did enjoy the movie otherwise.

Yes, I did notice that -- however, there were no other places for there to be extras, and the whole purpose is that everybody's stupid and nobody believes in what the Baudelaire orphans claim each time.

I went and saw it.

And I have to admit my favourite part was The Littlest Elf sequence. I missed the end credits though. :(

I hated how Sunny was subtitled. I would have liked it more had he interrupted and said what she meant. I did not like how it sped along so quickly. I didn't like how they explained the house burnings (how did they burn down the Caligari Carnival? With torches. -_-). I also did not like how Klaus and Violet weren't English. And Klaus didn't wear glasses. I would have liked more Justice Strauss. I also would have liked the Happy Clown Restaurant. Seeing as Olaf broke out of prison, hopefully there will be a Lemony Snicket II, with another trio of miserably unfortunate siblings, cakesniffers, lunch breaks of chewing gum, ambidextrous persons, and my favourite song.

I loved the movie. It was interesting, unique, and hilarious! I thought I was going to wet myself a few times because of the jokes.

Lol, when Count Olaf disguised as Stefano was trying to BS his way out of milking the snake and he mentioned how hard it was to find the "tiny udders"... :roflol:

I've been sneaking into this when I get the chance, and the parts I've seen have been really funny. I was in stitches during Jim Carrey's velociraptor impression, since my brother and I used to do the same thing, and ours was similar.

I disliked the movie. I thought the ending was to happy, and general mangling of the plot. I mean, what train? Spyglasses? Huh?

They deleted a lot of things that were really important when you look closely, like The Anxious Clown. They replaced these with ideas of there own.

However, Jim Carry was great as Count Olaf, and I rally liked Aunt Josphine. But rather then that, I disliked it.

I saw it and I agree, the ending was too happy. I liked the beginning with the little elf and stuff. And the guy was like "This movie is not like this." A LOT of things were left out though, but it is still worth seeing.
