how wrong you are. They were on lookout! records first.

Ever heard lookout records bands? Mr. T experience, Operation ivy even!
Very "punk" label

godfathers of mainstream pop-punk? Yes. Godfathers of rock? umm no.

Kids these days will listen to anything. Back in my day it was all pop, then dance music towards the early 90's. And the late 90's came the nu-metal era, then "punk" and now whatever's lurking on the scene.

You're saying the punk scene is new? Punk will be totally dead in about 2 years, as new-wave hardcore and metal are starting to takover, but punk goes back almost 40 years now.

Oh, and for the record, green day is pop-punk, and was never anything more than mediocre

ick, pop-punk...sad to admit but so true =/

Punk is velvet revolver etc.

If I was one of the Ramones, I'd poke you in the eye with something very pointy.

If I was a member of the Sex Pistols, I'd laugh in your face and kick you in the shins.

If I played with MC5, I'd wait outside outside your bedroom, wait until you fall asleep, sneak in, and put your hand in a bowl of warm water.

If I ever appeared on a Blondie album, I'd throw something very heavy at your head.

If I was ever a part of the Clash, I'd throw your sister off a roof.

But if I was Iggy Pop, I'd be the coolest human being alive and far too cool to even acknowledge that you or anyone even partaking in that debate is even alive so I wouldn't do a blooming thing.

I love Boulevard of Broken dreams! It's so negative. But what scares me is the guy that wears eye shadow.

I almost saw Iggy and the Stooges at Primavera, but Hog said it was a bad idea as Iggy might do Rude Things (TM) unsuitable for my young eyes ;)

That and New Order were on.

I like New Order, but come on Igg! IGGY! Igg and Iggy! Add a couple of rude anticts and you've got the perfect partnership.

Punk was originally rebellious music on political issues. Velvet Revolver is more on the lines of Alternative / Hard Rock.
