Redwall

Mon Aug 30, 2004 7:48 pm

Well i've seen some people mention that they've read these books, and I have too. Infact, i'm a total Redwall obsessive nut!
With the soon to be release of Rakkety Tam (the next installment) about a northern warrior squirrel coming out in a few days I thought i'd post to see if anyone else had read the books.
I've got the whole collection, and the special editions... and the companion books... and the figurines... Pretty much most of the cool redwall merchandise.
What books your favorite?
Mine would be Lord Brocktree. Can't go wrong with badgerlords. To be honest, I had chills when Lord Stonepaw... well... if you've read it you'd know.
To be honest i'm kinda worried about the series, I know that Brian Jacques has had a stroke (and a heart attack now)... and that really bothers me. Poor guy, he's such a talented writer.

Mmm.. yup!

I really like the Redwall Books, I havn't read through them all yet, I won't finish them all in time to read Rakety Tam when it fiorst come out...but I just bought the Pearls of Lutra and The Long Ptrol some weeks ago from my bookstore, but of what I've read, my favoritesd would have to be:

Redwall, because nothing beats the original...and it has Cluny in it.
Mossflower and The Bellmaker would have to come next, The Bellmaker surprised me because I didn't expect much since I didin't like Marial of Redwall too much but I quite liked that one.

I'd have to say that Martin the Warrior is my favorite Redwall book. It's the book that got me started with them. I saw this older kid who I thought was cool on the bus reading it, so when he finished reading it, I checked it out of the school library after he finished. My second favorite book has to be Mossflower. I'm a sucker for revolutions. Plus, it's Martin's tale of how Redwall was started, and Martin is the coolest. Any book with Martin in it is cool (Legend of Luke!).

My cousin has a signed, hardcover copy of Lord Brocktree. *dangles over ahoteinrun's head*

I've read most of them... I want something more original than some of em... I mean- there's ALWAYS the "shrimp an' hotroot soup" thing... how bout an otter who doesn't obsess over it? It was cute the first several books, but now... sigh. However, a few are very good. Outcast of Redwall was GREAT. I liked Martin the Warrior, Bellmaker, Mattimeo, Salamandastron, and ESPECIALLY Legend of Luke for originality. I love Legend of Luke.

A northern warrior squirrel? Sounds awesome! I want to hear more about... that one black squirrel, in Legend of Luke- Ragnarok or something?

I tried reading it in fourth grade, and haven't attempted it since. Mainly because I can't find it and don't think it's worth looking for. Is it?

I love that series. I've read the whole series 3 times. I couldn't pick which is my favorite one, but I really like Pearls of Lutra.

I used to be crazy about the series, I grew up and it become a little too.. eh, I dunno, you move on.

I was crushed to learn that Starfires Redwall Abbey shut down a couple months back, it was one of the first web forums I ever got into.

I just started reading Redwall not to long ago. I'm almost done the first book. I really like it!

I just read the Long Patrol, but LL would be my favorite. Then I guess Martin the warrior(stupid clogg), then The long patrol(Go Russano!).

I'd sure like to hear more from Basil Stag Hare, he was one of the only reasons I bothered to read some of them. :P

I read an entire Redwall book once (yes, entirely :O) and it forever out me off ever repeating it again. It was one about badgers I think, badgers at war. Terrible...

Redwall's the best!!

I've got (goes to check bookshelf)...
Martin the Warrior
Mossflower
Lord Brocktree
The Legend of Luke
Outcast of Redwall
Mattimeo
Mariel of Redwall
and Triss

I've read all except Mattimeo, and am reading Mariel of Redwall.
I'm reading them in order, and saw Mattimeo on special because of a small (1 1/2 cm) rip in the top left of the cover (and just had to buy it!).

My favourites are Triss and Outcast of Redwall.

My favourite creatures are Badgers and Hares....

Go Redwall!! :)

I love Redwall! I've pretty much read all of them...except for the Bell Maker, Marlfox, Loamhedge and Taggerung. Sadly, I can't seem to find the Taggerung, and Loamhedge only comes in hardback *sigh* the library isn't exactly helping either. My favourite would be erm...the Pearls of Lutra was great, and I think I read that book quicker than the others, Martin the Warrior was also great...but...I suppose my favourite would have to be Lord Brocktree. I just love Dotti :D

I read two of them - Mariel of Redwall and Marlfox. I rather enjoyed them, and as I was in Italy and couldn't acquire any other material, read them quite a few times. However, although they were good, the plots were so similar that I was left with no desire to seek out more of the series.

Yeah, I thought Legend of Luke was the most original of them all. Loved it to bits.

Gonff is my fav. character. ;D And Gonfflet is such a cute name. ^^
