I have Cable and think it is good but right now I don't know if DSL is faster or not? Anyone know or have opinions on DSL?

Cable is faster, by a little, I think download times are slower on DSL.

cable is faster by a lot. i typically get 2mbit to 3mbit download speeds on speed tests and DSL isn't near that.

DSL is just as good if you are doing just net browsing. If you are someone who is going to download a lot you may want to stick with cable. My sister has DSL and I have cable, whenver I'm at her house just surfing the net, like I am right now, there is really no difference. All the sites load just as fast with both and DSL is much cheaper in most cases, for me cable is the same as DSL for the time being.

well the biggest factor when deciding if cable or dsl is best for you is your location....DSL speeds depends how far you are from their network, cable depends on how many people are using the internet at the same time as you..if a lot of people are connected using cable in your neighbourhood, it'll be slow.. the best way to figure out whats best for you is to try both cable and dsl.. but the main trade off between the two is speed vs reliability, in most places cable is faster but you should also expect downtimes once in a while, dsl on the other hand might be a bit slower but its more reliable than cable.. =o

I have DSL, and it goes really fast and is reliable. Sometimes it depends on your ISP, not what type of internet you have.

Oh. I use IE. Cable works incredibly fast with no lag time on Neo ;-).
But DSL is more accident-prone.
I think. Aw dont listen to me im a 10 Year old redneck

DSL companies like to put a low bandwidth cap on your connection. Cable companies are more lenient to the cap, so you generally get faster transfer rates.

You get exactly what you pay for with DSL -- if you're being offered a 2mbit line, you know you're always going to have those 2mbit just for yourself. With cable, the theoretical speeds are fast, but if all your neightbours start downloading linux over bittorent, your chance of a fast download speed decreases.

So it's my neighbors! Dang those neighbors! My sister's DSL is pretty fast, ve must be close to the DSL provider. I can't seem to get super high internet with my cable, I didn't think there were many around me that used it as well. If anything I'm sure they aren't dl torents.

Doesn't the speed of DSL also depend on the distance between the provider and your home?

yes i think it does. luckily all my neighbors are old
