Neocolours problem

Mon Apr 11, 2005 7:09 am

Ok, I've hadhad this problem for awhile. Nearly months. Every single time I try to go to neocolours.co.uk, mozilla times out. I have had this happen before with deviant art.A AWESOME person on the neopets board who had a DA account went into a tech. help chat on deviantart.com and had it fixed for me by repeating the instructions the tech support guy on DA gave me. This happened so long ago I have no idea what I did. Please help!

Well Neocolours is currently down so that might have something to do with it. It's been down for about 3 days now.

The site does lag occasionally at various random times of the day, though recently I haven't seen a problem with it. Should it time-out then leave it for a few minutes and try again, chances are it'll work for you that time. It normally does for me.

Currently the forum is broken (has been since Saturday, here's hoping it's fixed shortly) but everything else on the main site is working fine for me - I can still see TNT's latest attempts at Grey pets even though I'd actually prefer not to :P

If you've had this problem before then I'd recommend reinstalling your browser. There are quick fixes I know of for firefox's earlier editions which are probably the same for mozilla but they are for fixing things that really shouldn't be happening anymore.

I'd suggest reinstalling your browser and then seeing if it still happens before using a quick fix, like increasing how many connections you have as that shouldn't be necessary.

Also, see if you can access these websites with IE or another browser like Opera. If you can see them with them then a reinstall of your browser with the reset configuration should do the trick. If you have the same problem with all browers then something is up with your network/firewall/router configuration. But it's prob just the broswer so reinstall :) Good luck =)

Well, I'm trying IE and so for no good. It says "Cannot find server."
And I don't have a firewall, just adaware.

You have no firewall what so ever? You just connect straight to the internet? That means that even if you have a good virus scanner you could be infected with a number of trojan viruses which would be a number one cause of that kind of problem. If that is the case then google "stinger", download the prog, disconnect from the net and run the prog (it specialises in trojan hunting). Then get yourself a firewall, like kerio or zone alarm (google and you'l find the free versions) and install. Virus scan, and adaware scan - also get spybot as it picks up things that adaware misses (and vice versa).

If you do have a firewall then the above may not apply, but it's still a good idea to do all those things :)

Are you connecting to the internet through a router? If so you''l need to check it's setting are correct and it doesn't have it's firewall blocking stuff. Same for if you just use a modem.

If it is none of the above then it's probably a physical problem with the line which can cause dropped data packets which would result in your problem, but that's not likely. It could just be your ISP though, but it sounds like something at your end if you got it fixed before. It definitely isn't a browser related issue though if it affects both IE and mozilla.

Apologies if you already know some/a lot of the above but it might help out other people too so I went into a bit more detail, hope you don't mind! :)

Then if you have sp2 I'd turn the firewall on, or get sp2 and do the same.

All computers should have at least one non-windows firewall, a *good* virus scanner, adaware *and* spybot. Also if you unplug the connection at the back of *your* computer it won't affect anyone else's pc.

I'd suggest googling to find out more about how your computer actually works and general pc maintenance as this would solve a lot of if not all problems you come across with your computer.

Edit: or get your parents/brother to, hehe - let them do all the hard work ;)
