I've used the search feature but have done so to no avail in my attempt to find an answer to the question I will now present.
Why is it that threads are split at a certain amount of pages? It seems to be most usually split at 10.

I'm pretty sure it's to keep people from having to search through a bunch of pages just to find out what the current conversation is.
Personally I don't think it's all that neccesary, but hey, I'm not a mod, and for some good reasons, too...

Yeah, it's more to make it easier to reply to a topic without having to read so many pages (for example, the unreleased thread in Gen Chat- less pages to scan through mean that people will likely be more careful and not post the same thing). And it's aesthetically pleasing. :P

We originaly started doing it because of space restrictions. We continued with it to keep things tidy.
