Avatar problems

I really hope this is the right place to put this, if it isn't I apologize in advance to the mods.

Anyway like the title says, I'm having avatar problems. I can get my sig to work, but no matter what I do to my avatar I cannot get it to show up. I've been playing around with it every time I've gotten on today, but I haven't been able to get it to work. What am I doing wrong?

Am I just being dense or is my computer being stupid? Help someone?

Well the filesize needs to be below a certain limit (it is either 5k or 7k I can't recall). Secondly it needs to be entered in as a link. So that means it should be "http://...."

I don't see why you would be having problems otherwise.

It was mentioned with our reopening and spiffing up, the av limit is now 25K.

Also make sure your avatar is in .gif or .jpg format or it won't work at all. I notice your sig is .bmp and the forums won't accept it as a proper avatar in that format.

I think it is below a certain limit because the set was made for me, just to be safe I tried another set, and I still have the same result. I did make two screenies just now so you guys can see what happens.

^ is when I put in the link, then when I hit submit it all vanishes as shown in this screenie:

The icon just never shows up.


EDIT: ahhhh the bmp was the problem then? Thanks. Err anyone know how to change the file type? *is not good with this sort of stuff as you can tell*

Cool, I didn't realize this. Hmm... I remember trying to enter an av in somewhere and coming up with those filesize limits... I can't think of anything, oh well.
