Posting int he Gallery(the way I see it)
ARTWORK
Step 1: look at it
Step 2: Ooh, pretty! I really like -blank-
(seriously. Look at the majority of artwork posts.)
I find this seriously offensive. Not to myself but to everyone who posts in the gallery. When you come into a place like PPT, you have to understand that not everyone is a professional artist. Sometimes people just want to say "it's nice" or "thats pretty" or "you're great". Not everyone knows how to give a critique nor does everyone WANT to give a critique.

WRITING
Step 1: Read it. Yes. All of it
Step 2: Actually have to think about it in order to post something.
Same amount of steps, but one actually requires effort.
If you look at the written work posted in the gallery, you'll see just about the same type of comments for the written work... that you will for the majority of the artwork.

When it's so easy to flood artwork with meaningless posts, writing is buried at the bottom of the board before you can blink.
The art gallery is hardly being 'flooded'. The fact of the matter is, is that people will comment on what they want to comment on. Do you honestly think demographics will change the amount of posts on written work? Because I don't. People will comment on what they want to comment on. If you want comments, advertise your work to your friends. Put it in your sig in a link. As well, I see very few meaningless posts in the art gallery, and if you see any, be feel to point them out to me, and i'll be more then happy to take action.

That's where the new board would come in.
If writers had a place where they could post their work and it wouldn't get swamped and buried by artwork, they could actually get meaningful evaluation and comments by people who are willing to read what they put hard work into creating.
Again. Demographics will probably not change anything. Written work goes in the gallery. If you pay attention to PPTAC (PPTMAC), you will have noticed that written work has been doing quite well recently.
If you want meaningful criticism on your work, I suggest you start doing two things. EVERYONE here who has posted saying they want a new board, prove that it's deserved. Start commenting on the work thats in the gallery. Keep the written word at the top. Frankly, I don't see that being done right now. And don't say that "it's all pushed to the bottom". The gallery does not get that much traffic. Everyone here who says PPT needs a writing board, prove it. Start posting more written material, start commenting on the work thats there, and then maybe if theres a big enough push for it, maybe it can be brought up again.

To Sum it up...
Authors deserve just as much credit and appreciation for their work as artists do. Writing is just another form of art. If Artists can have their work appreciated by other artists in the gallery, I think it's only fair that authors have a board where they can do so too without fear of being drowned by lazy comments on art.
No one says that writing isn't appreciated on the forums. Writers are free to comment on other writers works. I've never seen a post or a rule that says "Writers cannot comment on work, or authors cannot recieve comments". And really, do you need to say "lazy" comments. As i've already pointed out, many people do not know how to critique art, and I really feel it's not fair to hold that against them.

I personally am no longer posting any of my works in the Gallery, art or otherwise. It's not fair.
Thats your choice. If you don't post, so be it.

Evisceration is a sign of respect.
