The good thing about Gaia is that it's huge.
The bad thing about Gaia is that it's huge.
But I love the little avatars and in such a big site you are sure to find someone to talk to.

Not true. Although I've had an account on Gaia since last December, I was only active on the site for about a week or two in June. During those weeks, I only posted once, but I still managed to make about 5,400 gold just by reading and moving throughout the site. I imagine that had I spent more than a couple hours a day reading the boards, I would have made much more. Let's not forget that one can earn nice amounts of money just by being lucky and getting a rare event. From what I could tell from my week on the site, the treasure chests and gift boxes found in those rare events sell for a pretty penny.

On the other hand, one could also not read or post on the messageboards at all and still earn gold. I believe users earn gold by submitting new links to Gaia's anime webpage database, and submitting reviews for listed sites will also earn gold.

That 5.4k bought me a nice collection of clothing items I'd had my eye on, though I will admit none of it was particularly fancy or rare. Here's my character:

As for what I think of the site itself, it's not half bad. I love the items and how customizable my avatar is, and the art is gorgeous. As for the messageboards, they make for entertaining reading. I really only read the Extended Discussion message board, and the topics, although some posters were the usual idiots or trolls one will find in almost any message board, were usually very interesting and had equally interesting replies.

If anyone's interested, my account name on Gaia is, surprise surprise, Phibby.

The little avatar characters are neat. I signed up a while ago and browsed the forums a bit. But unfortunately, it's a bit too graphic intensive for me. And I'm sure I would just get lost amongst all those posts. O_o

You disable images then you won't have to deal with them and it is pretty easy to navigate once you get where everything is.

Also it is hard to get money so people won't just sign up for the clothes then never come on again.

You only posted once? Then why do you seem so familiar.. Chances are I didn't see your post, even if it was on ED which is the only one I read. But I do know your username from there.

Edit: Just had to put this in. Just went on Extended discussion and I found
"oogleboogle!!!
help my oogleboogle!
its realy fun"
Just thought it was kind of funny, had to share. :P

I've been playing since October. I don't go on as much since I only know a few people who still are on on a regular basis. I still like going on and changing my avatar though. ^^

Image (Consider the outfit a fashion statement. Ragged dress and blue skirt/petticoat. xP)

I joined around a week ago. Username's atroposleslyth, and I usually hang out around the Writer's Forum.

Though the majority of the people on Gaia are utter lackwits who spout chatspeak and random phrases of stupidity as if it were their mother tongue, quite a few of the people who visit the Writer's Forum are quite intelligent. There's a huge Mary Sue-hating thread on the HP subforum, which make me squeal with glee when I saw it.

Of course, some of the people who do hang out around WF can't write to save their life (the stupid burns, I tell you), and they seem to worship the almighty Mary Sue, but still.

There are a few intelligent humans on Gaia, though, so that makes up for the imbeciles. Sort of.
