I think crap, damn, and hell are all swears. Now when I'm at the barn and a horse just pooped, if there's a kid around, I'll say "Gotta clean up the pile/poop." If not, I'll say, "Gotta clean up the sh**/crap." Neither word would I say in front of a kid. Damn is certainly a swear word. Hell is a swear word if you're not talking about Satan's home.

If anyone you know would think twice about saying any word in front of someone (a kid, parents, church members), then someone else considers it rude, and you could get reported for it. A swear is a word someone finds offensive.

I suprised that everyone has assumed it was over the word crap. It could have been over holy, since religion isn't allowed on neopets. Of course that doesn't make a lot of sense, but neither does getting frozen over the word crap.

The neoboards are always bad news. People are so report happy now days. Couldn't TNT perdict that by adding the Report this message links so many people would be wrongfully frozen? Those buttons are probably they're worst idea ever, and the longer they're there the more people will be wrongfully frozen. :(

I'm really sorry about you're account. Hopefully TNT will unfreeze it.

Well, the "report message" link serves a purpose. How else could TNT possibly locate all those nasty chain letter posters? Also before you might have seen someone posting something that you knew was wrong, but just couldn't take the time and bother to report. Now it's much easier. But of course because it is easier there are always those who think they know better than everyone else, and who can be report happy whenever they don't like what you're saying.

It seems like either way, somebody loses.

I know it serves a purpose, and it does make it easier. But thats just it. People report you for so much, without warning usually. So a newbie posts a chain letter thinking it will work and gets frozen and doesn't know why.
I don't think they should get rid of the "report message" link completely, just put it on maybe the first post of each page. It'd still be easy, just not as easy, so maybe less people would be reported for nothing.

I agree with Strechii, having that Report this message on every post and every neomail is just too tempting for some people and there are people power tripping, clicking that report link and even bragging about how many people they report in a day. Reporting is something we should all do if we see something that is really bad, like a scammer, truly offensive language, etc.

However, freezing for the words crap, damn and hell seems a bit over the top, especially considering TNT uses damn and hell on the site in a few places. That is just hypocritical. If there are words that we are not to use, first of all the filters should pick them up. If they don't, then there should be a list of words we aren't allowed to type so everyone knows. If there are young ones on the boards who should not see these words, well they are probably too young to even be on the boards, which means either they've lied when they signed up or they have parental permission. And many kids I hear talking know those words and some I won't even use!

Arg. I just got a warning for suck. I forgot that it can be used as a swear word, I meant the literal, as in sucked out the window.

I sorry to hear that Neopets froze you and I hope you get your account back.

Speaking about Neopets Freezeing people.

While doing a search(because I was bored at the time) for Salei (ChromeFox's pet) and noticed that ChromeFox has been frozen.

Any ideas on why ChromeFox is frozen?

I also hope ChromeFox gets her account back as well.

On a note somewhat related to this, I went back to using jhudoras_mansion_romannumber system. I got frozen because it said I was using more than one account to make NeoPoints, even though I had only one account.

I suppose it's because there have been so many frozen JMansion accounts they think I'm cheating with them?

I started again with ellens_mansion and EllenMart as a shop, since Ellen is my real name. The shopkeeper is Jhudora the Janitor talking about how she scrapes up dung now, so people will know it's me.

I put up the little introductory thing with the fat lardo monitor, too, but nothing else until a frostless week has passed.

Oh, and I've recently heard 'crap' is a swear word in the UK but not in the USA.

Maybe it's not safe to use the Neoboards at all. If they don't check in to what someone reports then anyone can accuse you and you could get frozen for no reason.

Sounds like Neopets is getting too big. They have rules that seem to really loose. One day it is okay and the next day it's not. That is really confusing.

I don't understand why they don't just block all the works you can not use on the boards like, "crap, Damn.... etc...." Especially they should block out all those chain letters. This would make reporting less and make it not the responsibility of someone else or someone who feels they have that responsibility or "power".

My point here is some people seem to make it a sport to report other people. It's worse than the blind leading the blind. Neopets should look in to a better system of freezing accounts for chat violations. I would also think they would look in to the incident before freezing.

I don't use the neoboards anymore because of my 2 warnings, which i was framed on. I only use the trading/auctions board.

But weren't you Jhudora's mansion?

People will find any reason to report you....insecurity issues or something. People have reported me for saying damn, hell, WTH, shut up, and being sarcastic to a scammer. I kid you not. But I've never even had a warning. Ever.

If it is not blocked by filters, then it is not a swear. And I'm not talking about creative spellings of swear words, it'd be very easy for them to add damn and hell to the list. If they did, I'd use my Proper British English in every convo :)

People offended by those words should check out other net games. Or Neopets RS chats on AIM. They'd probably die of an aneurysm listening to the casual F-words (both kinds) being tossed around. Neo is squeaky clean, some people forget that other users come from the outside world where damn, hell, etc are common place. They really need to stop wasting the monitors time so they can deal with scammers and actual threats to young users

- end rant :D -

Also, be very careful if you're, say, on an RS AIM chat. It now looks like if you're on AIM and have an argument or disagreement with somebody and they know your Neo name, they can report you for harassment, cursing, etc. Recently happened, I was lurking on the BD and a few people mass reported someone who had an argument with a "well known" BD'er. The person was frozen for allegedly using an AB'er so you know that person won't be getting their account back.

Bottom line, be very careful what you post, where you post, even if it's in AIM. If you tend to be argumentative don't chat or post. First of all arguing on the internet is a waste of time, second it can get you in trouble. If people are being warned/frozen for posting crap, damn, hell, cookie, ebay, bikini, and all the other words we're not finding out about, do not post them.

And please, don't fall into this new "trend" where it's almost cool to be sarcastic or just plain mean and nasty to people on the boards. I don't know where that's coming from, but I personally don't like it. Think before you click the submit post or message button.

I'm not mean or sarcastic to normal people, just to people posting scams and asking for passwords. 1) its fun to taunt them 2) giving them fake passwords wastes their time for getting real accounts 3) if they post that kind of crap on Neo, they better be ready to take the heat from people who won't tolerate their kind of nonsense.

Edit: But I understand the bit about not posting on boards if you can't control your temper ;)

Scream, you're very wise to not let anyone know your neo name on AIM or anywhere else. Actually no one needs to know that, right?

And you're right on why we can't type cookie anymore, just annoying since there are cookies that are things on the site and if you need, say, a magic cookie, it makes it hard to ask for help.

I have a zero tolerance for scammers, believe me. I lost my first account to a fake log in page scam. Yes, I got the account back after a couple of months, but it really opened my eyes. The very idea of stealing or trying to steal things that aren't real or cheating on a game

And yes, it gets annoying when people beg or you see the same question over and over. That's when it's time to just leave if I'm getting annoyed, not take out on a person what someone else made me angry about or because I'm in a bad mood.

The sarcastic/mean/nasty I'm talking about is say, for example, someone is new to the site, they know next to nothing. So they come to a board and ask a question, like their pet is sick and help, what do I do? Or they've unfortunately fallen for a scam, like the off TP trading (that's so awful). And people just post the rudest things they can think of because they seem to think it's cool. Some even have in their html or siggy things about being mean, rude, sarcastic and to get over it or they're proud of it.
