Those awful turds!
Santa shouldn't be ban.
The Santa image brings joy to the children at Christmas.
How is it offending?
Most of my friends aren't Christian but they aren't offended.
And naming Christmas, WINTERFEST?
I hope your petition works out.
Because if I was in your area I would get everyone I know to sign.

A friend of mine who works in Education was recently asked to complete a course where he was informed that Black Boards must be referred to as "Wet Wipe Boards" and White Boards should be called "Dry Wipe Boards".
All hail the nanny state.
A WET WIPE board?!?
We call a blackboard a blackboard because it is the colour back. If it was blue, it'd be a blueboard, if it was bright flouresent pink, it'd be a brightflouresentpinkboard!
*tuts* They'll seriously end up upsetting all the little kids with the whole taking away Santa buisness...>_<

Our chalkboards were always green, and we called them chalkboards. The white ones have always been called "Dry Erase Boards".
As for Santa.... x_o Santa doesn't really have anything to do with Christianity, and neither does the Christmas that he represents. It's a commercial Christmas filled with glittering lights on trees and singing snowmen. Religion doesn't come into it.
I can understand if a shopping centre wanted to do away with a Nativity set being on display, because that does represent Christianity. But Santa? **rolls eyes**

I think there comes a point where people take things too far trying to be politically correct. I think this is one those times.
This year, there was a school district around here that banned celebrating Halloween at school because they said it offended real witches. What's next, Valentine's Day because people are offended by the fact that Cupid is naked?

They changed Christmas to Winterfest?? How do they know thats not going to offend those of us who celebrate Christmas in summer?

In response to the theory that Santa was created by Coke--False. I'm too lazy to get the proof, but they have it at snopes.com.
Everything else, this world sickens me. I can understand people wanting to get along and all and respecting each others' beliefs, but that also means accepting when one persons' beliefs might possible have more meaning than your own. It's about how it works internally, not how you can't have fricken' Santa Claus in front of your store.
I mean, people nowadays can't accept the fact that you have to make waves to move the raft! Are you people content with just letting things be perfect and harmonious but getting nowhere, or risk having a bad relationship and getting somewhere? I mean, they're banning the honor roll system in public schools because it lowers the self-esteem of all the people who are too dang lazy to pick themselves off the ground and get somewhere! They're banning freaking tag! It demoralizes the person who's "it" and teaches them that it's whoever's the fastest runner who gets anywhere!
I say, get the crud outta your heads, you stupid nutcases. Stop labeling people with titles because they respect other people for who they are rather than lumping them into one big category so as not to invoke the wrath of corporate mugwumps. Get out of your head! Stop being ruled, and ruling, by fear! Do things with your gut! Make some waves! That's the one reason I respect... some people... for doing the things they belive in! Sure, they're unintelligent, sure, they might not have everyones' best interest in mind, but they're willing to lead the charge and take risks!
Amen, and God bless America!

It is so sad how people put so much effort into erasing Christianity from today's society. But everything else is okay. Why do peolple not worry about offending us?
Not everything should be about Christianity in the world.
Not every thing is about "Me" or "us".
People do worry about offending you.
I wouldn't complain.
I know other people have different religions. But, in my knowledge, people seem to take the most effort to erase it. I also happen to know the world doesn't revolve around me.
But hey, you know, if I'm wrong, I'm sorry. I don't know everything, I'm a kid.

Aren't you the one who was unhappy with the whole Halloween focus on Neopets?
Because, really, this is sort of the equivalent.
Yes, that was me.. I guess you're sort of right..
Sometimes, I don't know why I open my mouth because I know I will always start something and then I don't know how to word what my heart is saying. I'm sorry.

Don't be sorry Medli hon. You have a right to question. Though maybe someday you can explain to me in PMs why you're not allowed to celebrate Halloween.

medli has a point. non-christians usually aren't the ones offended by santa, sometimes it's christians. santa is a symbol of how christmas has been taken away from its "true" meaning, the birth of christ.
'course, we could get into how there's no way christ was born on christmas and the actual history of christmas, but that's not the point of this thread.
i'm a former christian, and christmas, santa included, offends me on both the residual christian level and on the non-christian level. no, i don't have a problem with people celebrating whatever they want. but, like my view on smoking, i don't like it when it invades my space. i want to go shopping without having santa shoved in my face. if i had children, i'd want them to go to school without having to feel pressured or feel bad about not celebrating something that everyone else does.
i appreciate this mall's attempt to neutralize the holiday season, instead of focusing on the mainstream. i appreciate the recognition that there isn't just one way to go through december, and taking steps to demonstrate that recognition.

This reminds me of a debate we had in Newspaper last year. We were brainstorming ideas for the December issue, and one of the editors said 'Christmas Issue'. Some other staff member started the debate that it should be called the Devember issue or the Winter issue. This debate lasted like half the class, and finally our teacher stepped in to say that we call it the Christmas issue because Christmas is associated with winter and December, and that Christianity is the dominant religion in the US. We almost started the debate again this year. x.X
I think it's stupid that they banned Santa. Yes, there was a Saint Nicholas, but Coca-Cola was the one who created the jolly fat man in a red suit. The real St. Nick was born in Turkey as a Christian. He was the patron saint of children in the West. The only reason why he became Santa Claus was because he gave gifts. In other parts of the world, he is the patron saint of sailors.

Snopes Santa Article for those interested.
I don't believe the chalkboard/blackboard thing is part of political correctness. I think it's more of a couch/sofa pop/soda issue, just different linguistical values.
And baa baa 'blue' sheep could've just been a child's imagination, his favourite colour maybe?
I know more CHRISTIANS offended by Santa than non-Christians, so the reason for banning Santa is flawed, but the reasoning is still fast.
