Rabbits are the only pets I'm allowed to have :(

Think yourself lucky, I'm not even allowed a hamster any more...

"Too much hassle!"
"You won't look after it!"
"NO!"

*sigh*

White_Wolf wrote:I've always thought rat terriers were nice. They have short hair, which means that you don't have a hassle with them shedding and having to get their hair trimmed often. Also, most of them are pretty fun-loving, but because they stay small all their life, their playful attitudes don't result in much destruction of the home. Also, unlike big playful dogs, a little rat terrier wouldn't be able to knock you down or hurt you much. When they're not playing, they can be rather sweet. I've known them to curl up beside people and fall asleep, and again due to their small size, having this dog sleep by you isn't much of a problem. Plus little dogs live longer than bigger ones.

On the down side, these dogs have very sharp teeth, and their love to play can wind up to lots of bites to the hand. I had bite marks on my hands once for several days after just playing with one. But you can get the teeth filed if you choose.

I recently saw a puppy Rat Terrier and they were quite cute...I suggest going here-->http://www.ivillage.com/pets/?arrivalSA=1&cobrandRef=0&arrival_freqCap=1&pba=adid=12304542

and finding the breed selector. It's designed to help youfind a dog that fits you

I would post the direct link but my computer isn't being nice.

Aw.. I think the best dog are the Pekingese.. So cute.. But, I'd think that they shed a bit, with their long hair.. If you kept it short, it might not be as bad.. oo; On the other hand, my dog is part pekingese and never sheds. xD So..Erm..Yeah. I'm sorta biased to short nosed dogs. they are so cuuuuute.

I say go with the cocker spaniel. I had one until my dog recently died a few months ago and she was the best dog ever. We never had any problems with her being mean to strangers, she was always the most friendly dog you could ever imagine.

Cavalier King Charles spaniels are really good!

But they're pretty expensive, I hear.

I have a Malte-poo, she's a cross between a Maltese and a poodle. She's really cuddly, she never sheds, her fur is hypo-allergenic, and she's really hyper. They're great, but they're like $450. They're worth it, though.

I had a golden retriever from when I was four years old until I was a senior in high school. Goldens are incredibly sweet dogs and wouldn't harm a fly. Our golden liked to steal paper out of the trash can when he was a puppy and little five or six year old me would just stick my hand right in his mouth to pull the paper out, not knowing better, and he never bit me. On the other hand, if your mom is very serious about not wanting a dog that sheds, then you definitely don't want a golden. They shed like crazy all year long.

I love border collies, but I wouldn't keep one as a pet. They truly are working dogs, and they need a lot more exercise than I have the time to supervise.

I guess I'd go along with several other people in suggesting a cocker spaniel. They don't seem to shed nearly as much as goldens, and all the ones I've met have been very sweet.

Shi Tzus are extremely cute dogs, but they are very furry. Anyone heard of them before?
